This is the lamest analogy....if Apple had the same iOS for 100 years you'd be bitching and moaning about how they need to change to "new iOS"....most people on here can't even stand to wait a year between changes.

And for the "10 different flavors of Coke analogy..why don't we get that?"...you do! you can layout your screens, icons, sounds, jailbreak...should I go on?....all on one device.

Hell...I would love to be able to buy a single can of Coke and have it be Coke for my kids, diet coke for my wife, caffeine free diet coke for me......

. . . Do what I do - set up invert colours on a triple-tap of the home button. Instant night mode!

Glad that works for you MS, but it's not a solution.

It inverts everything, including making photos look like negatives. I don't think that asking for a proper Apple implementation is a step too far.

Sure, it's not ideal, but it's great for browsing or reading text at night without having to squint at a bright white page. Am I imagining things or did there used to be an option to modify iOS colours slightly in the old days?

Yes it is...they are Apple and they don't want it to look that way on their device.

It becomes my device when I buy it.

As it does for people with eye trouble, older folks, people who like to read their phone in the dark without eye strain, people who generally prefer a dark theme etc.

Apple is not always right, whatever some may think.

You only have to look at the recent stock performance to see that and their earlier fall from grace in the late 80's early 90's. Arrogance may lead to this happening again. No company is untouchable.

Personally I hope Apple continue to produce compelling products, but allow slight customisation where there is sensible reason. That's the path to long term success, I believe.

In the 80's, Coke changed its formula and launched New Coke.

The outcry was so bad that Coke quickly changed its formula back and then rebranded its original formula as Coca Cola Classic.

This new OS tastes like New Coke to me.

I disagree...I like the new OS. Sure there are some things I would change but there were also things I would have changed with IOS6.

You can list all the "good" reasons in the world for something like a dark theme to be "stock" on iOS....but it doesn't matter.

Apple knows their buyers WAY better than you do and have spent MILLIONS figuring out what is the best for their device.

I could buy a car and paint it bright yellow and rip ou the stereo for one I like better...that doesn't mean I expect the car maker to do it for me.

That's what 3rd party apps and jailbreaking is for...you'll pay extra for it one way or another.

It should.

Really?

After the initial preview of iOS 7 when they talked glowingly about the "clarity and beauty" of the new fonts, when people complained they were hard to read during the early Betas . . . . . . they actually changed them.

They do listen sometimes, just not nearly enough.

You crack me up...if you didn't think they had not already thought of that and had the change in process, you are crazy.

Did they also "listen" to people because the calendar didn't have dots in beta 1 and then add them in beta 2?

It has already been proven that they have the next three iterations in testing internally...the changes are constantly happening and the only reason it seems like they listened to you is that they already went down the road with the thinner font in the programming and weren't done changing it in time to release the beta. They new it was wrong before release but had bigger problems to worry about.

The thin font didn't make or break the release...and that's why they released it...KNOWING it would change.

But...whatever makes you feel better...;)

Why do you and other MR posters have to be so obtuse? Of course apple listens to their customers, they have made countless changes to hardware and software solely based on customer feedback. We have a 4 in iPhone instead of a 3.5 in iPhone to prove it. They release OS betas to developers(customers) to get fact based(not emotion based) feedback on everything from user experience to technical bug issues. Why does it bother some MR posters that other posters would like a hardware or software change? Does it affect you somehow? No it doesnt, if you dont agree with their agree with their particular problem then dont reply to their post.

You mean don't judge a fairly big outcry on a FANSITE DEDICATED TO APPLE?

I think what he means is that this site is the minority; a small minority at that. Same is true with the Android forums, and Windows Mobile forums.

Most people don't really care about PPI, Flashing ROM's, or wondering why an animation takes .002 seconds longer on one phone vs. the other.

By your logic, are you saying - that only the people in agreement with original post/problem reply?

This is a forum = discussion = debate between 'pro' and 'anti'… It's called democracy. Just because you agree with one post and not the other, doesn't make it right for the 'other' not to reply - now does it ?

Also you say that OS is first released to developers (customers) to get fact based (not emotion based) feedback… doesn't that prove the point that Apple know what their customers want from this feedback??

Just a thought…...

I think positive/negative feedback is fine. I also think it's okay to agree/disagree with various posts. I mean that's why this forum exists, as do others. I think where the issue(s) come up, are when people spout off things as fact, or "everyone" says this is an issue. I've read a number of posts about iOS 7, and people having issues with the Springboard restarting for various reasons, and "everyone" is having this problem. No they are not, because I haven't had the issue. That doesn't mean it's not a problem, but don't lump "everyone" into the argument.

1st - No that is not what I am saying, but if the only purpose your reply post serves is to tell the OP that their issue is pointless and they should just be happy that they have a phone/OS/etc then youre not actually adding to the content of the forum are you?

2nd - All that proves is that apple is asking for customer feedback/input to make the product better. Which was the point as the poster said that apple doesnt care what we think. By apple seeding the different iterations to devs and changing the OS in some not all cases, proves that he was incorrect.

Agreed. I have read numerous posts about IOS7 issues that I am not experiencing. I just get tired and frustrated with all the snarky replies..."because apple said so" or "why do you need this or that, I think its perfect the way it is". Anyone can agree or disagree as there is usually something to learn from both sides of the issue. However, if you dont have anything of substance to agree or disagree with an issue then why post and waste everyones time?

This new OS tastes like New Coke to me.

Coke had adjusted its formula several times before the 80s.

Perhaps your problem is that you're trying to drink your iPhone.
