And, of course, there are small features and big ones. I doubt that a new iPhone which is going to have a larger screen, LTE and new A6 processor and all that jazz is going to be pushed heavily on the basis of a new dock connector and new earbuds! They're still features, of course, but they aren't likely to be the headline selling points.

I get what you are saying, I just hope they are expecting this type of reaction:

humm... I didn't get it. Did I write something wrong? English is not my first language.

First off, your english is excellent. The issue was with your use of the word "perfect" when you wrote "my perfect ears." Perfect is usually considered a very high compliment and therefore your sentence comes across as vain since you're giving that compliment to yourself. Vain meaning "Having or showing an excessively high opinion of one's appearance, abilities, or worth." Basically it's the opposite of modesty and therefore an undesireable trait, which is why you were being poked fun at. I think you meant to say "my normal ears" to indicate you have regular ears like anyone else and you can't imagine how those headphones would fit into them. Either that or you're just very boastful about your ears and happen to speak english as a second language. If it's the latter, please post a picture of said ears for our viewing pleasure.

Just came across this on AppleInsider

"In addition, Kuo revealed that each cable will be embedded with a detector integrated circuit in order to counter unauthorized accessories, further adding to the cost of the cables."

I guess that means that the new cable will prevent jailbreaking.

I think you're mixing up features and benefits. A feature is a feature wether you want it or will use it or not. A benefit depends on your needs. I too have splashed out on some fancy earbuds so the new ones will not be used by me - I may keep them as a spare set or give them away - but they remain a feature and will benefit SOME people who will like them (assuming they are good - this is all speculative).

It'd be a feature if they didn't sell the headphones seperately. As it stands, you're telling me the headphones will be a feature for anything that uses headphones. A friend might get Samsung in trouble if he uses the headphones in his Samsung phone then. Samsung would be stealing this "feature" from Apple. It's not a feature of the phone. Sounds rather asinine to believe so. Next you'll tell me the stickers the phone comes with are a feature of the phone.

No. It's simply meant to prevent us from using the non-Apple cables and such found on eBay for dirt cheap from the Chinese mass producers.

I've always find it strange how people can't stand the freebie Apple earphones - I find them very well balanced (at least at "normal" volumes - I try not to listen really loud). I bought some of those Sennheiser CX300II's and while they're good I find them over-bassy in comparison.

I design speakers for a living, won quite a few awards for it too so my judgement can't be that bad... :D

i like the apple buds, but they don't have that much bass

i have koss plugs and portapros. extremely great for the price, if you don't mind the retro look

Thunderbolt and Lightning - That's just brilliant. Nobody sore that one coming.

I wonder if you'll get a free copy of Bohemian Rhapsody will every new iOS device. Gallileo Figaro Magnifico.

Call me crazy but I am more curious about the headphones than about the iPhone. I know it is going to be a better phone, but this seems like a complete rethink of headphones, with a huge leap in sound quality.

But Thunderbolt is seldom is used on PCs and other non-Apple devices, it's completely different from, let's say, USB 3.0.

Okay, but you are assuming that Apple want's people to use a iPhone with a Windows PC...

Apple has always forced his "total" solution to people. And people who use Apple are supposed to upgrade to a newer one within 4 years or so.. Eventually all circling Macbooks have Thunderbolt..

In the mean time, you have the Apple iPhone Connector cable, and the adaptor or second cable for windows. I can see them pull that off, to have yet another reason for people to switch.. What if certain features are only possible with an TB cable, and not with the windows cable? They could say it's a pure technical limitation of USB3... not?

Am I really? Thanks for the heads up.

You mean giving people a reason to switch to using a Mac? Because of some stupid cable?

:) thanks for the explanation! I was just trying to say in advance before someone say something like the earphones are perfect for human ears and there must be something wrong with my ears. And I just learned the meaning of Vain. Yes my ears are normal, no need to post pictures :)

The day that word stops being tossed around as often as "literally hitler" will be a great day. I get reminded how "entitled" my generation is more often than I breathe and it's usually by members of my parent's generation who have already gone through the social security their parents saved, the social security they've saved and the social security I'm currently paying into that won't be around by time I get to sit down to ponder just how entitled I am. A generation that comes out of college with a full mortgage and no home. A generation with few job prospects and a broken economy, but we work our asses off anyway. But, NO, you hear one single guy complain about the price of headphones online and we must all just be such terrible people....

Hey man, your barking up the wrong tree. I meant entitlement in the "I don't HAVE to buy it (hell I don't even want it) but I'm outraged product X doesn't have X,Y,Z". As if someone is entitled to features when they have no say in the process other than at the very end, purchase.

In other words, Kuo doesn't know what he's talking about.
