Placing the plant life inside just seems sad and wrong. If they feel the need to add some contrast to the starkness of the store interiors I wish they could find a more creative way of doing it.

My oldest son went to Tokyo this summer to visit a friend there and we were blown away by the stories and pictures that he shared with us. Most likely one of the places that we are goin to visit one day soon. Beautiful country, lovely people. Let’s add this Apple store to the list...

Is it just me that thinks the wooden benches / desks in the apple stores look incredibly out of date now?
It’s all going to change to black anyway ;)

Some nice features but like some others, not sure about the wood boxes/seats. In any event, I'm sure it will be a busy shop.

I'll be visiting Tokyo for the first time two weeks from now. I can't wait. I'll try and swing by this store if I find myself near the neighborhood.
You'll have a wonderful time! And don't worry about a language barrier. Tokyo is a very English-friendly city, and the various Apple Store locations (plus tons of other businesses that appeal to tourists) have plenty of bilingual employees that will go out of their way to ensure you have a great experience.

Too bad the customer service of Apple in Japan is quite slow and terrible.
I’m beginning to question your perspective or at least motives for being so negative despite living in Japan?

Not only have I been to several Apple stores in Japan, but I got excellent service from an English speaking Japanese person each time. “Welcome, can I help you” was a standard greeting and I was even able to ask questions about the iPhone X.

It is uncommon for a regular Japanese person to speak much English, but Apple seems to employ at least one to help foreign visitors.

They spent $5 million on that thing and couldn’t get another $1000 for actual CHAIRS we can sit in while we wait 1+ hours for that Genius Bar appointment that’s inevitably running late.

I hate sitting on those stools like an idiot

My experiences of customer service at Apple Stores in Japan have been the exact reverse of heylarry's "quite slow and terrible" experiences. Would Apple allow anything less than excellent customer service in Japan, which has a cultural reputation for politeness, efficiency, and excellent service? It's unthinkable.

Will someone who has been to the new Marunouchi store please report back to this thread with your fresh impressions?

This image is making the rounds on Twitter. (It is *not* my picture; I grabbed it off one of the many retweets.)

The tote bag, sticker, and pin were distributed to the first of the store's visitors during its grand opening.

I was going to go wait in line to get this. I showed up at 7:30am and the line to get in was already wrapped around an entire city block. In a non-residential business district in a Saturday morning. I noped right out of there since I knew they’d be out of swag by the time I got in.

Yeah, I figured it would be a madhouse. It will be interesting to see if having the store there will continue to bring in large crowds of weekend shoppers. I like the relative peacefulness of Marunouchi on the weekends.
