Apple introduced a new version of the Vision Pro with M5 chip this week, and it came with a Dual Knit Band that Apple says is more comfortable to wear for long periods of time. M5 Vision Pro buyers will get the new band automatically, but those who have an M2 Vision Pro also have the option to buy it separately.

It appears M2 Vision Pro owners are eager for an accessory that makes the headset easier to wear, because the $99 Dual Knit Band is now backordered for at least a month. As of yesterday, new Dual Knit Band orders were delivering between November 7 and November 14, and wait times could get even longer.

There are some retail stores that may have the Dual Knit Band in stock starting next week, as the M5 Vision Pro will launch on Wednesday, October 22.

The Dual Knit Band is made from the same 3D knitted material as the Solo Knit Band, but it has a two-strap design. One strap fits at the back of the head as before, but a second strap goes over the top of the head for better weight distribution.

Apple also added tungsten inserts to the ribbed back loop for counterbalance and a fit that is supposed to improve balance and stability. Apple says that the Dual Knit Band is soft and breathable, with a Fit Dial to adjust each strap independently.

The Dual Knit Band is available in small, medium, and large sizes, and making a purchase requires using an iPhone's Face ID camera to find the right fit for your face size.

But, but, according to MR users there are only 7 VPro (M2) that have been sold, so Apple only had a couple engineering build of this new band in stock, right?

This just goes to show you are uncomfortable the thing is. Also, $99 is nothing to these people, considering the investment.

I haven’t tried it yet, while I am skeptical I could get a whole day of use out of an AVP, it looks like the wide band across the top might make enough of a difference to extend sessions by better disbursing some of the tension pressure necessary to keep the AVP in place that the regular dual loop just didn’t do.

I do enjoy seeing the AVP haters irresistibly re-up their membership oath every AVP related article.

I mean, huge sales for replacement parts isn't that impressive.
…Like bands, shoelaces, and different variants of the same shoe (wide toe), there is no “one size fit all” headband option as far as headsets.

Also this is news; if you find it impressive or not—or even speculate the sales are “huge” when it’s merely backordered based on the supply Apple was originally willing to make—that’s on you

The higher-end ResMed and Belkin top band mod for the Apple’s solo and allows me to use mine all day practically everyday when I use my Macbook privately or can benefit from the ultrawide aspect ratio virtual display modes for my work

Would have bought this had it been available when I got my AVP (start of this year). Day 1 of owning AVP (early 2025), I used the supplied Solo Knit Band in combination with the Belkin strap, but found the AVP too uncomfortable (too heavy) to wear for more than 20 mins or so. Contemplated returning AVP due to the weight issue, but gave the Annapro 2 a try, which removed the issue of AVP being too heavy on the face. I actually use all three ‘bands’ (Solo Knit Band, Belkin Strap & Annapro 2) together! Weight is no longer an issue with my set up, but I do still have an issue with the general ‘closed in’ & ‘solitary’ feeling when using AVP….it actually deters me from putting it on. After a days work, it is easier/less hassle to relax on the sofa with my iPad Pro than put on AVP. You soon get over the wow factor of the big screen. I admit that I knew this was a likely outcome before I purchased AVP, but after demoing AVP, ownership of AVP became an itch I just had to scratch! As crazy as it sounds, I still don’t regret my purchase. Hope everyone buying the M5 AVP (or just the new strap for an existing AVP) enjoys their purchase.
