Looking at the older portions of the article – "Plexiglas" top – no way, not recyclable enough. The machined block of aluminum is inexpensive and worth keeping (unless they figure out some fancy 3D-printed setup).

Maybe anodized in a variety of colors (besides Silver and Space Gray)?
That might be a nice style option.

Also I am hoping the folks at Apple are savvy enough to understand their Mac mini user base. With the form factor having stayed constant for 10+ years, there are a lot of us who have accumulated stacks of these things (I have 4 at the moment) – to say nothing of hosting companies.

The Mac mini is a fabulous Windows or Linux machine. And it holds value better than non-Apple machines. (When you're upgrading, boot into recovery, restore mac OS, and donate or sell…)

As someone said previously, ideal for headless server or even a headless workstation (for dedicated tasks).

And it's ideal for people who have their desk rig (displays, keyboard, etc.) just the way we like, and simply want to swap in 'more power'. An external PS (if needed) would be unfortunate but tolerable.

The 'Studio' model gives some insight into their progression – same footprint, just taller. I think Apple is smart enough to keep the FF nearly identical and build more speed & function into the guts.

I don't think it will have a plexiglas top either, but FYI, Apple sold Mac minis with polycarbonate tops for many, many years. Also, changing the top to acrylic or polycarbonate doesn't necessarily mean the footprint & form factor have to change much.

I certainly remember those! Scratched up a few of them.
I like the all-metal much better (OK it has a little piece of plastic in the top).

I would think the dimensions stay the same to appease the CoLo folks...

Base/foot/intake of unit changes to match the Mac Studio...

WiFi/BT antennas/placement changes to match Mac Studio...

Silver & Space Grey options...

I was caught up in the “wait for the next” Mac Mini. I was following the MaxTech boys and it all just lead to hype disappointment…

Buy what you need now.
There will ways be one more thing…

I ended getting a Mac Studio last March.
If I waited for the rumoured Mac Mini Pro… I’d still be waiting.
