I've been advocating for OLED displays in Apple products for years, so even if Apple creates an iPhone Pro model and prices it at $899+ due to supply constraints I'm going to have to practice what I preach.

I hear Samsung has a lot of AMOLED displays they aren't using for their NOTE series!

I'm okay as long as the top of the line phone has the OLED display and they don't either push it off to the 2018 iphone.

Funny how those rumours of an all-new incredible 10-year anniversary iPhone are being scaled right back to "there might be a third model with an OLED" screen.

Perhaps it will just be an S-cycle year (and not iPhone 8)?
7s, 7s+ and 7sPro.
S for screen.

How long before Apple itself gets into the screen making business? Pretty much every product they sell now and well into the future not only has a screen but increasingly is defined by its screen, and they can't rely on others to do it.

How long before Apple gets into the making just about anything business?

Apple doesn't make stuff. Foxconn, LG, Samsung, and various other suppliers do. There's still a little bit of iMac assembly in Cork, but that's Apple's only remaining factory. Apple is a design and software company, not a manufacturing company.

And I've been advocating against OLED for years. I hope Apple never sells a single phone with one.

Thought burned in images died with CRTs? Nope, OLED brings them back!

They've got a shorter lifespan, they wear out.

And they just don't look as good as LCDs.

People complaining don't realize how many iPhones Apple sell.
Neither does Apple, apparently. If they did they'd loan their suppliers some of their excess cash to increase their facilities.
Ya know, unless this whole shortage at launch thing actually sells more product than their actual advertising does.
Oh, wait...

What if they go another year with the same design, call it 7s and make millions off their faithful sheeps? As sad as it sounds, i can totaly see them doing just that.

TBH at this point, Apple screw up everything they do. The new photobook proves they still believe their top dog, and they just aren't anymore. Tim Cook needs to come back to reality. Apple don't have the godly status they had under Steve.

And just for kicks they should make it totally automated so that it employs noone. :p

Hence why Jobs had no problem declaring a war on Google and Android even if it caused apple to go broke.
Correct. Steve Jobs "owned" Apple in the sense that he could do what he wanted with it without fear of consequences. Those days are gone. Apple is a corporate and no-one wields enough power to do that sort of thing.

I know the density of pixels is different from OLED TVs to OLED Phones, but think how many phones you would get out of one 75" screen.

Apple could always put the OLED screen on the 4.7" model thus supporting more phones than the larger one.

BS!

Complete and utter BS!

Apple won't be using OLED displays ever.

Ming Chi Kuo trolled the media saying the next iPhone will have OLED (buzz), and now he's making up excuses (kill).

If Apple were to put an OLED in 2017, they would have decided about it in 2013, and primed the suppliers in 2014, tested in 2015, manufactured in 2016 to release in 2017. What do people think Apple is? A bunch of amateurs that decide their products roadmap 2 weeks before releasing them?

But I'm waiting for that guy that will say the next iPhone will suck because it doesn't have an headphone jack.
I wish Apple would put one back in or at least push USB-C headphones like they are pushing the ports on the laptop
