Their online store always goes down during WWDC, whether there's new hardware or not. Don't let this get your hopes up.
Honestly, I think all bets are off in the current climate.

I wouldn't be surprised at anything from "desolate wind and tumbleweed" to "complete new M2 lineup".

Realistically, I'd bet on a "preview" of a new Mac Pro that won't be available until Q4 - since that's how the last 2 Mac Pros and the iMac Pro were launched & it would be good for them to "complete" the transition ASAP.

New Airs are overdue (and have appeared at WWDC before) but it would be an awkward time to launch them unless they were really confident about shipping them before "Back to School" season ends.

Unless they're going to keep the old Air on as an entry-level machine, with the new one more of a MBP13" replacement...

Hey! That is the sacred scroll of my religion you are insulting. 😇

Who's insulting? I see that thread as the ultimate example of hype ramp extreme, then crash/dashing extremes around every event. Those poor souls ride that roller coaster every time... like Charlie Brown hoping to finally kick that football Lucy is holding.

Occasionally (about every 400 pages of commentso_O), there is a payoff but almost every time is another crash/dash. I was right there with them at the last event, dashing my many-rumors-driven hopes for Mac Mini MAX and then soothing my wounds with Fat Mini (Ultra)... though the wallet certainly felt wounded after that purchase.

The tease for that Mac Mini PRO & MAX was very high at the last few events. And here we go again at this event... now with some evolving that into M2 PRO Mini. Unfortunately- for today anyway- I suspect Lucy is holding that football again... with a hint of evil in her eyes. But maybe... just maybe... THIS time Charlie Brown.

My first thought when I saw that image was "MARVEL" - like the comics. Is that the vibe they're going for?

For what little it’s worth, my hardware predictions, so that I can look back in half a day at what an idiot I was this morning:

- no M2 yet
- M1 Pro mini
- early glimpse of Apple Silicon Mac Pro

I just want to be able to add storage (2.5" sata or m.2) to a Mini, I don't need the Pro, Max or Ultra chips, I just want more than 2tb of internal storage at Apple loony prices... I would replace one of my Mac Pros with it.

They don’t need to scale to a current Xeon system, they just have to be faster than the current fastest Mac Pro, which shouldn’t be difficult. The only question in my mind is whether or not they consider 1.5 TB of RAM worth supporting going forward. If they only had 12 folks ever use that much memory, they may be fine just saying toodle-oo to that crew.

Well, I'm referring to PCIe expansion (with the support of current gen cards on the market/newer gen cards), internal storage solutions, and memory expansion. The current Xeon MP can scale pretty high up according to user needs.

No doubt an AS MP would be faster, the question rises, can it expand as well? Whole premise of the Mac Pro, is true modularity/expansion but the whole premise on AS, is unification. If Apple can't deliver on the modular aspect, it defeats the entire purpose of the machine I feel.

I hope the new MP isn't what the trashcan MP was. In essence, the Mac Studio is basically that (be it, a lot faster, in bigger Mac Mini form), with expansion being sent through TB/USB4. People seem to be okay with that now for that specific machine, but I feel people would freak if the new MP saw that same treatment. The MP needs to be expandable imo.

My guess is that the AS Mac Pro will have both the unified memory (up to 256 GB or more likely 512 GB), as well as expandable RAM via DIMM slots for those that need more.

Yep, I'm on the same prediction but I guess we just need to find out. Only a bit more!

My day 1 M1 Mini was always bought as a stop-gap until they released a 27" AS iMac that I probably couldn't justify the cost of. But it's been long enough now that my enthusiasm for that has gone and it would have to be something pretty special and pretty reasonably low priced to make me swap the M1 Mini for anything now until the time comes it can't cope any more.

Given Apple doesn't do "reasonably low priced" very often at all (initial M1 models being the exception to entice early adopters) and my M1 Mini doesn't flinch at anything I try to do to it / with it, to the point the fan doesn't even go above it's stock 1700RPM, I think I'll just go find something else to do and log in a couple hours after the event to see what the next versions of all the software brings.

I'm actually quite excited for improvements in Swift UI on Mac. That was a nice surprise when I discovered that a few months back - but obviously the store doesn't need to come down for that kind of thing.

While it's always fun to watch the new products unveiled, in a way I hope there's nothing too compelling to tempt me to spend my money now when in reality I don't really need anything new. An enhanced Mac Mini would certainly be an interesting development. Hopefully we'll get a better idea of what Apple has in store for us from this event.

Possible but unlikely. Due to Monterey driving "unexpected ejections" of various USB storage that has no such problems on pre-Monterey Intel Macs, I've been trying a variety of new cases to try to find something that works well with M1 Macs on Monterey. One that has is OWC Ministack STX which is basically a Thunderbolt hub sized like a Mac mini that includes the ability to add a 2.5" or 3.5" drive inside and one stick of M.2 too.

If you need more speed than it offers, they have several options including some M.2 RAID options like Thunderblade but Ministack will stack very nicely with current Mini. I don't work for OWC or anything. I've just tested through a variety of external drives lately trying to find something with big storage, reasonably fast that doesn't suffer from "unexpected ejection" syndrome seemingly tied to Big Sur & Monterey. Ministack has been very stable for many weeks now.

I just bought an M1 Mac Mini to replace my Intel iMac so it would make perfect sense that they would come out with a new mini. LOL
