I had a feeling the price bump would happen very soon, but got too busy with work to order a Mac Mini 48GB/1TB (wanted 64GB but that option is gone now) before it happened.

I’ll happily pay more for upgrades on an M5 Mini, but if it’s just a price increase then I’m back to square one and I’ll just wait for however long it takes to get something better rather than pay more for something I could have gotten cheaper yesterday. If a price bump is what all this is about, that is.

Edit: Prices bumped while I typed.

Further info from Bberg:
Apple Inc. took the extreme measure of raising prices of Macs, iPads and home devices on Thursday, seeking to offset cost hikes caused by an unprecedented shortage of memory chips and storage.
The company is increasing prices of the MacBook Neo, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iPad Air and iPad Pro, according to changes posted to its online retail store. The starting price of the MacBook Neo, its latest laptop, is rising to $699 from $599, while the MacBook Air is increasing to $1,299 from $1,099.
The entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro is moving to $1,999 from $1,699, while the 11-inch iPad Pro is increasing to $1,199 from $999. The iPad Air, a mid-tier tablet, is now priced at $749, up from $599. The price hikes are global. The company did not raise iPhone prices on Thursday.

Literally just ordered an Apple UK refurb store 256GB/16GB M4 Mac Mini earlier this morning (3 hours ago) for 509GBP. Now out of stock. They are now 799 new (and the 256Gb is back !).

hope they process the order and now feel like I might have got a bargain.

I am now crossing my fingers that it will take a few days for them to update in store prices. That's just crazy to increase prices right now.

Base iPad was 329 ...now 429.

ooof !
I'm seeing the base Wi-Fi only iPad priced at $449, in the US anyway. That is insane. This is all a bunch of ********. These big corporations are all in on this together.

I think we can reasonably infer that iPhone price increases will come with the next generation of devices with their being spared today’s increases. AirPods seem to have been spared too, at least here in UK. Tempted to replace my lightning APP2 with APP3 before they too go up in price, the battery life in my APP2 definitely starting to suffer.

Well, it wasn't as if it wasn't explicitly announced that there would be price hikes. That it was coming wasn't a rumor, it was a stated fact.

Nothing surprising here, and the level of the hike isn't dissimilar to price hikes across the industry - just look at Valve's Stream devices.

Wow, these price increases are insane!! Base model 16" M5 Pro MBP went up $300 to start at $2999 now. And an update to 48GB ram is now an extra $600, instead of $400. 🤮

Poor Apple probably faced a marginal unit cost increase of $100-$150 for that 48GB of memory, and is now charging you an extra $500 to get it.
