That was precisely Apple’s dirty trick: by not putting sd card slots on iphones and ipads, they are making people who need more space pay Apple and only Apple for it either by getting an icloud subscription or by paying a hefty premium for a device with more storage capacity.
If “people” cared they would get a phone with an sd slot…no? Otherwise these “people” are doing what’s best for them.

Actually when you think about it, Apple is promoting discrimination, hatred, and exclusiveness towards others by making text messages different between iOS iMessages and Android (annoying green color).
When you think about apple is differentiating the sources of a message.
Also, they promote exclusivity by not catering to people of all classes by making phones only for those who can afford them.
No for profit consumer oriented company is mandated to sell their products at a particular price point. I don’t see you saying that Samsung is not catering to all people because some may not be able to afford the z fold.
It's a very subtle strategy that Apple has used, but when you think about it, hasn't it caused you (including myself) to despise Android users (even mock them) and thinking people who can't afford an iPhone but an android type phone to be inferior. Think about it and be honest in your thoughts.
If I’m honest this smacks of some type of internet hyperbole.

Use a case like the "Vofolen Case Wallet with Credit Card Holder Lanyard Crossbody Strap Leather Magnetic Clasp Kickstand Heavy Duty Protective Square Flip" (I know, that's a mouthful, but that's it's name). That's the case I use, and it lets me wear my iPhone so that it doesn't take up pocket space. That also means I don't have to worry about droping my iPhone hen I'm useing it, and I can use my iPhone's flashlight without holding it in my hand (like a headlamp). Plus the wallet is very nice, it's one less thing I need to keep in my pockets!

Couldn't you make that statement simply by not having your head down in your phone all the time?

That wallet wouldn’t really work for me, cool idea though, I’d rather just eliminate the entire phone from my pocket, it lives in the car unless i need it on me, so far it’s working well

Hardly. There are plenty of backup and storage options that do not require iCloud, a larger device, or even a Mac. You can even sync and store photos using Google photos, for example and avoid iCloud for what is generally the largest storage use on a device. Google drive can backup contacts and calendar. Plenty of options beyond just Apple.

I have since my European colleagues use What's App; and some friends FB Msgr though I try to avoid it. The problem is you have to use multiple systems and remember who uses what, and in some cases they use 2 which adds to confusion.

Having a serious conversation on a Zuckerberg program/platform seems like a historically bad idea, not sure why EU and third world people like whatsapp, normally if they can’t message me I just tell them to email

I personally don't have a problem with Apple choosing to focus on the mid to upper range of the phone market but Samsung definitely caters to "all people" much more so than Apple. Samsung offers its upper end smartphones but also has several under $429 (the cheapest new iPhone) with retail prices starting as low as $160.

Gen X dumped windows for doing Microsoft things. I doubt gen Z will do the same when apple's time comes, they are easily manipulated by youtubers, influencers, etc.
I think social media manipulation is more of a generalization. Sure, there are a group of people that just keep mindlessly scrolling through SickSock or whatever, but some of them are smarter than that. There is hope.

Yes. This is why I got an android phone. Because I swap out microSD often. I put movies on microSD and transfering via card reader is 10x faster than the phone.😓 I hate having to fight iOS to get files on to my phone. I use my iPhone as an iPod Touch--for gaming.😊

I also like to tinker, so iOS is a no go.
Otherwise these “people” are doing what’s best for them.
My wife likes the iPhone because it's easy to use. She doesn't give a rat's (_!_) about transfering photo, movies or whatever on/off her phone. She just want her phone to work. For her, using Android is a constant fight.

US, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan is forming a cartel on chip. Apple and Samsung combined sell majority of phones in the world. Everyone needs a phone. With the cartel, US has the world in the fingertip because everyone need phone. Imagine Europe is not part of the cartel. Imagine China is not part of the cartel. What will they do? Only US is part of the cartel. US will be in a prestigious position.

How's that relevant to the conversation we're having? Not that your post isn't valid, I just don't see the relevance to this particular discussion.

I hate Facebook / Instagram.

But even when 100% of my family and almost 100% of my friends have iPhones, I find WhatsApp to be superior in the messaging experience. Being able to have group chats with Android users is also great.

As for email, it's great for work related topics, but it is by no means instan messaging.

I personally believe the best scenario for Apple would be to enable iMessages on Android phones, but leave some features for only iPhone owners.

There are other apps like signal that are better than whatsapp

That’s Apple and Android, not Apple and Samsung. Android phones other than Samsung add up to a much larger chunk of the Android user base than Samsung does.

Good for them, why are they taking away chargers, headphone ports and other stuff from their phones?

Samsung seem to be one of the major players - and they definitely are happy about adapting to Apple's game. Remeber when everyone got outraged over "phone bricks missing", "headphone jack missing"..?

Which appears like it might be part of the problem.

Seems the availability of cheap phones may actually be hurting Samsung’s image as a premium brand.

Not surprising, it's hard to be seen as a premium brand, in terms of exclusivity, if you have products at the low end of teh market with teh same brand name on it. That's why company's create multiple brands to differentiate them in the market; or stick to a segment.

Perhaps to a small degree (even the video you posted put that as a minor factor) but Samsung has been offering a wide price range of smartphones for many years. That’s long been its business model. It hasn't just been about the higher end/premium side for Samsung.

Not when it comes to their market share. In most countries other than the US and perhaps Korea, Samsung’s market share is usually around 20% and Apple’s is around 15%. The remaining 65-70% is made up of Android devices made by manufacturers other than Samsung.
