Actually when you think about it, Apple is promoting discrimination, hatred, and exclusiveness towards others by making text messages different between iOS iMessages and Android (annoying green color). Also, they promote exclusivity by not catering to people of all classes by making phones only for those who can afford them. It's a very subtle strategy that Apple has used, but when you think about it, hasn't it caused you (including myself) to despise Android users (even mock them) and thinking people who can't afford an iPhone but an android type phone to be inferior. Think about it and be honest in your thoughts.

It's true, there are options optopns other than iCloud. But by removing the SD card reader, Apple's making it neadlessly duffcuult to use local storage insted of iCloud!
Um well I'm looking at the SD card reader slot on my Studio ultra right now, unless you think I am mistaken and it is something else, or you don't know much about Apple hardware.

The Studio ultra is a Mac, right? The topic is iPhones, not Macs.

Yes it is and if your topic is iPhones then when did Apple remove SD card reader slots from iPhones.....seeing as how they never had them to be removed.
A minor mastake on my part, but my pont stands: iPhones not having SD cards makes more people buy iCloud storage.

Anyway, you're pushing it! You're not out-of-line yet, but you certainly could have made your points more politely (i.e. it's not what you said, it's the way you said it). Consider this a friendly warning: If you're planing a mud-slinging contest, I'm not interested. But if you're here for a furtfull and productive talk, that's another matter.

Edit: You could worded your posts "My Mac Studio Ultra has an SD card reader.", and then "The iPhone never had an SD card reader". You'd have made the same points, but with far fewer words and far less hostility.

Well, most macs including all macbooks no longer have an sd card slot, even though they did have one at some point. Iphones and ipads have never had an SD card slot, as opposed to other phones and tablets.

That was precisely Apple’s dirty trick: by not putting sd card slots on iphones and ipads, they are making people who need more space pay Apple and only Apple for it either by getting an icloud subscription or by paying a hefty premium for a device with more storage capacity.

Which is not surprising at all, coming from a hypocritical company that claims to promote diversity, yet it has an executive board and a board directors composed almost exclusively by white anglosaxon americans.

Because everyone uses builtin iMessage and thus there is no compelling reason to switch to an app that nobody uses. You'd wind up with some chats in one app and some in another, which would be confusing. As long as iMessage meets their needs, people won't switch.
I don't find it very confusing to chat with some people via iMessage, some with facebook messenger and some on WhatsApp. It's pretty easy really, you should give it a try.

Wasn't green the original color of text messages on iPhones, before Apple came up with their own text messaging protocol (iMessage) for Apple computers? Plus, it is useful to know when a conversation's going over SMS (among other reasons, SMS has far less security than iMessage). That said: You point may stand, if we consider Apple hasn't made an iMessage for Android, Windows, and Linux.
Also, they promote exclusivity by not catering to people of all classes by making phones only for those who can afford them.
Perhaps that used to be the case, but aren't there cheap iPhones now?

No, and if it does for you, you've got bigger problems than Apple playing mind-games with you! Even if you're right, even that was Apple's strategy: That strategy only works on people who judge others for the size of their bank account, and not for the content of their character.

That said: Recognizing your own flaws is a sign of good character, so don't be too hard on yourself! Realizing that you have a problem is the first step towards solving it. Just remember that Apple didn't make you judge others for the size of their bank account, Apple only took advantage of that.

It's not a good look when companies talk about diversity and the environment! Companies that treat people as people (i.e. don't care about your religion, gender, race, etc.) and respect the environment don't brag about doing it, they just do it.

Hopefully your opinion on Android users will mature at some point. But anyway, the "ugly green" theory always strikes me as a bit bizarre as Apple originally chose green for their own messages back then.

So in your opinion why do companies like Google or Samsung leave out the SD slot these days?

I trust the encryption and security on the iPhone far more than a android, especially ones running creepy google software

Apple has told the gov to F off when it comes to breaking into their phones

Google practically trips over itself to get in bed with government and surveillance and censorship

Plus most of the androids just look and feel cheap to me

I've already pointed out GoGo_GirLY's character flaw to her, let's not pile it on. Besides, she's both made a good point and she's realizing her character flaw. Way too many people lack the capacity to do eather!

Lol, are you serious?

First off the texts from androids are annoying, but not because of a color, but because they are not encrypted

Also Apple is a business, not a charity, if someone is poor and they are dwindling their time concerned about what smartphone they can or can not afford or text color…we’ll that’s probably why they are poor and phones are the least of their worries lol

Also you can get a few models back used iPhone for not much money at all

Now if you despise or mock someone for what model their phone is you’re kinda looser, I mean out of all the F’s I have to give, I don’t give half of a F about what make someone’s stupid phone is, honestly I’d be more impressed if I saw a younger person WITHOUT a smartphone

Recently my thing is leaving my damn smartphone at home or in the car and just using a Apple Watch, smart phones can do a ton but are also a time and social blackhole

I will try to join a discussion at an earlier point, next time. I'm sorry for having not read the entire thread. Either way, thanks.

That depends on how you use the smartphone! Ever since I was a child, I've carried a smartphone with me. Granted, what would have been a "smartphone" back then would today be seen as a "dumbphone". But having a smartphone with you when you're out, dosen't mean you have to be glued to Facebook or something. It does mean that you have a map with you, and the ability to call a taxi and emargencey services! Those are all very worthwhile things to have when you're out.

Apple Watch can do all the above..minus maybe calling a uber

For me it’s also less stuff in my pockets

I hear ya, but for me it’s also kinda a statement, I mean there are sooooooo many people heads down in their phones these days

Like go to a pub and instead of talking and meeting people, talking about things, people are just in their little personal smartphone worlds

Imagine believing that little slab of glass and circuits boards in your pocket is the stepping stone to social acceptance? I am glad I was a teenager in the 90’s when social media didn’t exist and phones were things sales people had in their cars. The only pressure we had was clothing fashion and it’s a lot cheaper compared to todays trends. A pair of Nikes and a Kickers jumper and you were good to go.

Use a case like the "Vofolen Case Wallet with Credit Card Holder Lanyard Crossbody Strap Leather Magnetic Clasp Kickstand Heavy Duty Protective Square Flip" (I know, that's a mouthful, but that's it's name). That's the case I use, and it lets me wear my iPhone so that it doesn't take up pocket space. That also means I don't have to worry about droping my iPhone hen I'm useing it, and I can use my iPhone's flashlight without holding it in my hand (like a headlamp). Plus the wallet is very nice, it's one less thing I need to keep in my pockets!

Couldn't you make that statement simply by not having your head down in your phone all the time?

I don’t think it is all about iMessage, this increasing popularity. It’s the strength of the Apple brand, the all-around quality of the device, the robustness, the style, the versatility of the software library.

In a way the ecosystem is mostly a factor for older, more sophisticated consumers who have multiple devices and use them all together.

Hardly. There are plenty of backup and storage options that do not require iCloud, a larger device, or even a Mac. You can even sync and store photos using Google photos, for example and avoid iCloud for what is generally the largest storage use on a device. Google drive can backup contacts and calendar. Plenty of options beyond just Apple.

I don't find it very confusing to chat with some people via iMessage, some with facebook messenger and some on WhatsApp. It's pretty easy really, you should give it a try.

I have since my European colleagues use What's App; and some friends FB Msgr though I try to avoid it. The problem is you have to use multiple systems and remember who uses what, and in some cases they use 2 which adds to confusion.
