Apple's Pro Display XDR Wins 'Displays of the Year' Award

you could be right - the apple care price is wildly expensive which also made me think these things were delicate. I just find glare SOOOO distracting. Apple also offers the coating on the iMac so it must be somewhat useful - I just wish I could see one....or find someone who had the darn thing.

Someone here posted a picture and it looks like the big difference is that the non-etched one will still show a diffuse area of reflection if you use a light source like a flashlight. The etched one will not even present that. That’s because the screen has been etched such that, even though the light is reflecting off the screen, the angle of reflection per tiny tiny area of the screen is so different from the surrounding areas, you can’t see that reflected light bouncing back into your eyes. But, the light from the screen comes through ok.

No, sadly, you’re missing the point. $20K is not a lot of money to businesses who are doing the kind of work that can benefit from a $20K Apple rig.

It depends on your business and what you do. For my business $20,000 is a lot of money to spend on a computer. I can spend that money on other equipment and I see the value, but not on a computer. Different businesses different requirements.

Sure. I said it's "not a lot of money to businesses who are doing the kind of work that can benefit from" it.

Yes it's a lot of money for some businesses, or people, but what are those businesses doing that will benefit from what that $20K buys, that a beefed up $4-5K iMac can't do?

The vast majority of businesses that will actually benefit from what the $20K buys (over what $5K buys instead) are doing the kind of work where every 10 seconds waiting for something, or a slight deviation in a color, or etc. costs them the kind of money that if saved will pay for that $20K and then some, pretty quickly. That's almost exclusively why the MP and XDR exist.
