I spoke with a supervisor at the store, he said he will help me out and check if the machine is at fault. I mean, if my plastic alignment tool scratched mine, so will theirs I guess. I just don’t know how to tell them that, but they think plastic won’t damage polished steel

I found even more scratches!!!!View attachment 973357View attachment 973358
Sorry, but plastic cannot scratch steel. Physically impossible.

Guess I am glad my Apple Store wasn't doing these yet, as I tried today to get it done. Sucks OP, glad they gave you a new phone.

I guess even with the silver Pro, there's no way to polish it since the outer layer is a PVD coating?

Unlike 11 Pro Silver, there's no coating and it's easy to remove scratches

Sorry, I haven’t kept up with the thread yet. I went to another Apple Store via train.

Anyway, I let the lady know about my previous experiences today. A lot of run around between the specialist and her manager. They were so nice by the way, I love Apple lol best customer experience ever, the screen protector installer that they use is terrible though. It’s the same one, and I got a better look at it. I took a photo of the alignment tray for you guys to see.

I asked the lady if I can take before/after pictures, they offered to write me a note about the iPhone being scratched during the process so I can make a return when they restock for silver whether I go to either store.

So, I took some brief “before” photos.

The lady wiped the machine, she was so gentle with it. And even took her time. She gave me the iPhone afterwards and I looked at the same areas where the previous iPhones were scratched. And yep, there it was. Not as bad though. Probably the PVD doing some work.

I only saw one scratch at the Apple Store after the application. I took a video during there to capture the scratch to show them, but apparently there was another scratch on the other side that I’ve yet to see. This other lady that the specialist brought out was the one that pointed it out since they both needed to see this.

I will upload the pics and video from the store in a bit. But first, I am going to unbox my iPhone and wipe again to look for other scratches. Apparently I missed one 🥺

This post gives me anxiety. So, your first Silver phone got scratched in the screen protector machine, they actually had another Silver in stock to replace it and you let them do it again and it scratched it AGAIN. Then they gave you a Graphite one and you took it to another store and let them scratch it again???? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

Wow, you’ve had a rough day! Sorry for all you went through. I’m glad they were really nice and it should all work out in the end. After seeing those pics I’m really leaning towards exchanging my silver for graphite. Not because of scratches, it just looks better than I expected.

OP, do you think the band on the silver can be polished?
or, the scratch will stay since it's on the coating?

Omg guys, what is this black dot. It’s like a part of the paint behind the glass. If I shift it down the dot is gone. But if it is raised the dot is visible. Looks worse in person. Wtf

Anyway, here is the scratch found at the Apple Store, the latter is the one that the manager saw that I didn’t notice...
