I thought you were going to return that one anyway when they restock?
I am, when they restock! However I don’t want them being like, “you got some black dot on the glass, you’re disqualified from getting your late exchange” or something ridiculous as that. 😮

Obviously your scratching issue was well documented by two supervisors and they will probably not even notice that dust beneath the glass. If it doesn't rub or wipe off, then it's under the glass. I am sure they will honor your return/exchange.

Either the new SS is super soft or Apple didn’t do the best job of setting my screen into the case. They nicked it in a couple spots. One front, one back and there’s a scratch. They are so small and everything else is good that I don’t think I want to start down the iPhone lottery path. Especially if others are seeing issues out of the box.

Wow. Some people are acting like this is okay. That's nuts. They should have some kind of micro fiber case or something to keep the edges of the mount from touching the device.

I used to install screen protectors and while I never did it in this quantity, I'd have been fired for damage like this.

A thin felt lining on the plastic parts that touch the phone would prevent scratches.

I can’t. I have a hand trembling issue. Why so offended

I just feel bad you have to jump through all these hoops to enjoy a device you paid a lot of money for. Best bet is to get someone to do it manually, friend, family or a cell phone store employee (doesnt have to be Apple necessarily). I didnt even know there are machines that do this.

Hope you get sorted quickly

At least Silver can polished easily unlike other colors since there's no PVD coating. My silver hasn't shipped yet but now I'm considering canceling and trying to go with Graphite in store.

It definitely is also PVD coated. You can see the scratches exposing the base steel layer.

I got this one for my Pro Max. How’s the quality? I tend to go for the Belkin at Apple but they’re not installing them at my Apple store. Is the quality pretty good or does it diminish the colors / screen in any way? How does it compare to the Belkin they install at the Apple store?

Let me know any other tips or comments as I am not the best at self installing these 😅

He explains it

Bought this bad boy for 10 bucks on Amazon. Came with everything to self install. And a video you could watch online. Took me literally a few minutes. And I was done. No scratches, no bubbles.🤷🏻‍♂️

This pretty much describes it. The instructions are easy to follow and just in case you mess up you have two.

Mental illness. I have like 3. How many you have? Name no names. Please don’t ban me but this is crazy. Didn’t you learned your lesson? Jesus!

OK I didn’t take the time to read any of the pages but which color now seems best to get considering this issue?

So, if I use something like cape cod cloth to remove the scratches it won't work as well on Silver?

It will work, but you will basically be buffing off microlayers of the PVD, and over time it might wear down to reveal the steel.

Omg guys, what is this black dot. It’s like a part of the paint behind the glass. If I shift it down the dot is gone. But if it is raised the dot is visible. Looks worse in person. Wtf

This isn’t your iPhone release year. Bad luck strikes once again.

I would take a lot of photos over the next several days. If you see that same spec in the pictures, you should return the phone. Many people have received a brand new phone with a speck of dust stuck in the lense and haven’t had any camera problems.

You do have a 14 day return period. Exchange it at the store or return it and purchase another phone. If something like that bothered me I would exchange or return it.

PVD. I have a graphite reserved... I still wanted silver. ****.
I'd still be very wary of the Graphite coating. I have already exchanged my Graphite SS AW6 because the Milanese loop band had scratched the watch case within a couple of minutes of fitting the band (band went back and i had a replacement watch) Im really not sure about these high gloss finishes now which is annoying because i want to get the pro model.

They let me hold on to this graphite iPhone until November 30th, that’s my return date. But I’m really hoping an silver iPhone is just available by then.

There are lot of threads about the Milanese band scratching watches. It's the stainless steel mesh of the band that is the problem.

I know and appreciate that, the thing that worried me was that the watch itself is supposed to be DLC and the the band PVD (soft than DLC)
The graphite coating on the phone is PVD isn’t it?
Either way, I’ll be buying a clear skin to put on it before applying any screen saver and being double safe buy using an Apple case.
