I'm not sure but this is probably more fair. Right now Google if I understand it correctly just searches the song on Google, which then leads to various links including YouTube, Spotify, and yes even Apple Music. The funny thing is that Google had baked the same service into Android about 7+ years ago and worked brilliantly, linking to Google Play Music. A handy widget on the screen and two touches later I knew what a song was.
But, like so many things, they watered it down and then binned it off. At the very least buried it, I haven't seen it for ages, plus they killed Play Music for the dire YouTube Music.
When it comes to snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, Google has it nailed. 💪
Me, too, when playing music through the HomePod, but sometimes I'd like to see the lyrics and Shazam's good for that (most of the time I use it).I just ask Siri its faster.
It’s spelled Purrple Cat in both Apple Music and in iTunes (is it spelled that way in Shazam?), but the search term “purple cat” does link you to “purrple cat” in Apple Music, but not in iTunes. I think the artist may have some control over what search terms are used for their music, though. You might want to use their “Contact Us” page to let them know about the difference.(Sweet Dreams album by Purple Cat today for example...a direct search turned up nothing even though Shazam identified it and linked to Apple Music almost instantly...took alot of search variations before I finally got it in iTunes). Have noticed this more and more recently. Definitely makes me suspicious that this friction is by design (to push the impatient user into the quick easy instant pay for access option, why else remove the buy buttons right?).
I had this problem too, I deleted the app as I couldn't see why I needed it anymore if I could just Shazam from the control centre - one night out I Shazamed loads of songs to check out the next day - but then in the morning realised there was no record of them anywhere.Am I just dim or is it that unless you have the actual app installed there is no saved search history of Shazammed songs. I’ve resorted to screenshotting the result to save for later. Super annoying.
I'm not 100% sure but I have the app, I barely use it, but when I Shazam it auto-adds to my Shazam playlist that appears in Apple Music. I love that option so much and use it for songs that I know as well.Am I just dim or is it that unless you have the actual app installed there is no saved search history of Shazammed songs. I’ve resorted to screenshotting the result to save for later. Super annoying.
I’m guessing there’s a dialog box that shows up when you install Shazam giving it the ability to save that information AND create the playlist in Apple Music. However, shouldn’t the same thing be able to be done via a Shortcut? That way, you don’t have to have the app AND still have the results saved.I had this problem too, I deleted the app as I couldn't see why I needed it anymore if I could just Shazam from the control centre - one night out I Shazamed loads of songs to check out the next day - but then in the morning realised there was no record of them anywhere.
It’s still faster than control center and *the app. When youa ask Siri, it is using Shazam. That's the point.
Makes sense now. No wonder Apple acquired Shazam. Such a popular app.
Download the application. It'll place songs in the Playlist you want. It really is a very usable app.Am I just dim or is it that unless you have the actual app installed there is no saved search history of Shazammed songs. Another move to kill off iTunes Store.Have used the app for ages and love it. Have to say it's definitely oriented towards Apple Music users and makes buying songs / albums difficult nowadays (speaking from use this morning). Use Shazam, know the song or album I want, have to manually hop over into iTunes and do searches, which often don't return anything.

Where there used to be buy or Apple Music buttons in Shazam, its now only Apple Music buttons i.e. rent access only now, which makes me sad.
Not so sure here as the OP was not searching with the name of the group, they left out one ‘r’.Another move to kill off iTunes Store.
That”s going to be a tough one to buy. SiriusXM now owns Pandora.
Ok, buy SiriusXM and kill two competitors with one stone.
Integration into iOS has possibly been one of my favorite iOS features.
When youa ask Siri, it is using Shazam. That's the point.
I wonder why SoundHound didn't pick up like Shazam, I think SoundHound was there first even
Buy Pandora next. Apple Music’s discovery algorithm is horrendous.
