It seems like it will take forever to get from point A to B.

If you walk around the interior probably, but why not walk across the center through the nice park? Shortest distance between 2 points is a straight line... Which is potentially possible in this design depending on the entrances/exits from inside the center.

It's a mile around the outside of the building, so 10 minutes to walk to the opposite side of the circle around the outer circumference. Shorter if you walk around the inner part of the circle. Half that time if you walk across the courtyard.

They'll all just use the coming multi-user version of FaceTime or get fired.

Indeed, and is why buildings are not made this was as you want to be able to get from any point to any point in an easy manner. not walk all the way round a doughnut or across the middle when its pouring the rain.

Something strikes me about how Insular this all looks. Like a castle wall to keep others out, it does not give the feeling of openness, quite the opposite.

Like a castle / prison to keep people out.

As you would expect, it's done to be different.

I wonder how Apple would feel if the builders say.

"Ok Mr Apple, all done now, and glued closed on all the work"
"You won't be able to upgrade or change anything"
"If in a years time you want a part of it improved, we will sell you a new one"

:D

It is not made to be open, it is made to keep all of the copycats like Google, Amazon, Samsung, and Microsoft out!

Well, you can cross through the middle I would imagine, and since there's supposedly underground section, so perhaps some underground cross paths/connections as well.

quite the bold vision for the campus, can't wait to see the finished product. It may even warrant a trip down there and a tour!

So Apple will finally have its own zip code!

Im thinking moving sidewalks that are always on like at the airport.

I might be mistaken but I understood underground parking to mean it is under the main building.

It's nice that that's what you think, but did you actually watch the video? I can't remember well enough from previous written plans I've read to say whether (some of) the underground parking is actually underneath the "spaceship" building itself, but that is also my assumption. However, I do know that they are planning on building additional parking structures, and some of those may be farther away, which is I think what I see in the video (though it's difficult to tell what is what).

That being said, I don't really think it matters. If someone chooses to drive to work, most of them can handle walking a little farther to get to the office. Let's prioritize and encourage walking, biking, and public transit instead.

Won't it take a very large amount of water on a very regular basis in order to keep all that green from dying out? Or is an environment like that self-sustained?

(I'm not dissing, just ignorant on the matter, looking for clarification)

The goal is to make it as natural as possible. With so much greenery in such large patches, it should be self-sustaining to a degree.

I just hope the finished campus is as beautiful as portrayed in that rendering. It's gorgeous!

How do you plan on getting a tour?

Apple currently gives public tours of 1 Infinite Loop. I would imagine the same will be available once this new campus is open. It's a world landmark that many people will travel far and wide to come see, including me!

Doesn't seem different than other places I've worked with a similar number of employees.

The walls are made of glass. :)

But, but, if those things are true then Apple is not stupid/evil/shortsighted/reclusive. How could you be so mean to point out the facts?

The 4:3 aspect ratio is making me want to dub this to cassette and watch it on my Panasonic all in one CRT / VHS player.

How do you plan on getting a tour?

Tours are (or at least were) available for the current Apple campus, I'd expect they would do likewise for this one, especially since it is going to be even more of a spectacle. The Engineer in me would love to learn more about the construction process, architecture and other geeky stuff, and the Apple enthusiast in me would love to see it for a host of other obvious reasons!

MY god man... Thats what you focus on...? Someone shows you a cool building and you lock in on that? Really? See a shrink, get soma happy pills.

Does that mean I can't point out the audio was boosted so loud in the video it was slightly distorted? :p

The beauty and scale of this work in progress are awe inspiring, and these 3D designs and video renderings are nothing short of spectacular. Once completed, this building together with its landscape architecture, will be a true testament to the Apple design philosophy, as well as to Apple's commitment to the environment.

Nothing else would have sufficed.
