2020 is a write-off. Everything will get cancelled or postponed.

If it wasn’t the poor who are most affected I’d say it’s a good chance to take stock of what’s really important, or perhaps is anyway. The world is a crazy place. We travel too much and globalisation has facilitated this pandemic.

Activating fear mode on people's mind is like spilling water on the MacBook Pro. Worst decisions comes from fear. So relax and breath, and don't let you mind be fooled by your fear. After all nothing can be done by worrying. When it happens it happens, and nothing can be done about that. I wish you all strength to face reality and not fall victims to the traps of fear. Use this as a opportunity to call your friends and family, specially those which you have not talk in a long time and give them support

But you have to take it seriously. We have to pull together. We need testing. We need to convert some large warehouses, etc, to covid-19 treatment centers. We don't want to wind up like Italy. In fact the Chinese model of temporary facilities works well. There will a big surge very soon, and then nobody can do anything. It's a contagious hospital, and nobody who needs anything else can be treated. That's not scare-mongering, that's the truth. From scientists. Even if you have a mild cold, you're still infectious. This was of course going to disrupt the economy. We need to behave rationally and it won't be that bad. If we go on as usual, we're going to be very sorry.

We ARE global. No way out of that, unless you want to scrap the airline industry and go back to steam engine days. Problem with that is, we'd fall back to that level of population.

Everyone is a professional investor at times like this it seems
Best comment here.

The funniest to me is when the market itself has a glitch and everyone pulls out, including myself. Like, I drop-kicked the heck out of my Robinhood account when I realized how ghetto their system was a year ago, and now I can laugh instead of rage when they have technical issues.

I wonder when stocks will hit bottom? The coronavirus is just getting started in the USA. It has exponential growth characteristics, so I’d expect total cases to double every week or so for the foreseeable future.
2 weeks ago the number of deaths was 1. 1 week ago, it was 10. I was expecting 100 by today, but it didn't happen. People are taking quarantine efforts seriously, and I think it's working.

I’m hanging onto my stock this time. Last time I sold my stock, I regretted it. Honestly, I know it’s easy to get caught up in the ‘media hype’ behind what’s happening, but I still try to stay level-headed in terms of not realizing I need to ‘sell sell sell’ type mentality.

realistically, if somebody purchased a small share, and ride the situation out, it has a chance to grow. I do think right now would be the time to invest amid all the stock market woes.

Very possible. But my prediction is that AAPL will be around $150 by August 31, 2020.
Why do you think so? Has the company changed in some fundamental way that more than halved its value?
I do not see Covid-19 is a fundamental change to the market generally or Apple specifically, so I expect valuations to bounce back once the panic is over. Although that might take a while, I’m happy to wait patiently.

Very little of the stock market decisions for big investment firms are handled by people anymore.

Instead, automated programs make the decisions for buying and selling based on instantaneous trends, investment algorithms, and perceived positive or negative news.

This can cause very large swings (both negative and positive) from feedback between the programs.

If the company that people have invested in has good financials and people don't have to sell, it's probably a good idea not to panic sell.

Trying to time the market by investing all at once is generally a losing proposition.

Instead, people should be considering dollar cost averaging where smaller amounts of money are periodically invested regardless of the market going up or down.

Good to know (and maybe do) ... the cold-arrest-procedure (know since 1984) ... the corona virus dies at temperatures over 56 degrees celcius :

https://youtu.be/TfKmOeZbVV4

Viruses don't like heat so I think that it will go into remission during summer.

Unfortunately like the flu, it will most likely return during flu season and not be completely eliminated.

After it has passed through a few times and we have developed a partial natural immunity to it, the death rates should drop down to flu levels and it will be more of a nuisance for most people.

Why AAPL dropped to $142 a little over a year ago? Fear an panic. End of August will be the time of the 3rd quarter report. The second quarter will be bad, the third quarter will be even worse. Once we see the second and third quarter revenue and earnings, the stock will drop like a rock. It may not even hold at $150 and go to $100.

Make sure to buy lots of Banana's for our new overlords.

Welcome to reality, when I was born I did not came with a guarantee to live a very long live. We all born, live and die. That is a fact of live. If we don't die from a disease we might die from an accident. When it happens it happens. I just scape death 2 times last week, one time driving a car, and another by riding a bicycle. What I learned was that I have to enjoy every moment and love and show kindness with those that are around me, not only family, every one. Because when it happens I might not have the time to say goodbye. A few days ago I gave a big hug to my brother and told him how important he is to me. We have to learn something from all of this.

Fear in people has cause at this moment an imbalance and the virus is not what is going to kill us but lack of resources as food, medicines for other illness, medical attention for people that really needs etc... That's what fear is causing. Those that can rise above fear have the responsibility to put some sanity in people minds.
