Ain't that the truth. The first thing I do with every new iPhone is replace all the native apps with third-party ones and use Google services instead of that iCloud crap.

Why don't you just buy and android phone?

when you open the redesigned music app in the beta, does it default to the "Radio" tab?

I use the Music app but NEVER use the "Radio" portion, so it's annoying when every time I want to listen to music I need to switch off of the Radio section.

Just so you are aware, you can click "More" and then at the top right you can click "Edit" and you can drag something else to replace the Radio button. You can re-arrange all of those icons however you wish to load whatever you want to be the default and whatever you prefer the normal bottom buttons to be in the music app.

EDIT: And I'm talking about the music app as it is currently in iOS8 so you can do this right now.

I have a bad feeling that the $25/yr iTunes Match will be abolished for a monthly fee.

I'll be really sad if that's true. I've been enjoying iTunes Match but am not willing to pay significantly more for it as a monthly fee. Also, being in Canada, I never got the added benefit of iTunes Radio without ads (thanks to Match) because Radio hasn't launched yet!

Related note: Canada better finally be one of those countries!

I try to use iTunes Radio when I'm just chilling around the house or when I'm working out, but I just don't feel it. I've used songza for the past few years and really enjoy that. I hope Apple has made some improvements to iTunes Radio and I'm willing to check out their streaming service.

I happy with Spotify, unless Apple comes up with a brilliant music service. But, to be honest Apple, just concentrate on making iOS 9 better.

Please stop! Good Gracious!. Not everybody cares about iOS and what makes you think that the same people in Apple's music division are the same people in the iOS creation team?

Really hope they launch Radio here in Sweden. Don't want Beats or Spotify, I like to own my music, but I do like the idea of iTunes Radio with ad free channels based on my preference and let me buy songs I like.

Match?

I wonder how iTunes Match will fit in with these updates.

I think that iTunes Radio is so outdated and just sucks!

I remember playing the relaxation station on iTunes Radio during a romantic vacation with my wife, both of us sitting in the huge heart shaped tub with candles lit. After some very nice and appropriate songs play, some loud death metal music disturbs our otherwise perfect moment.

Thanks for this- I had never seen this functionality - fixed a real annoyance for me. I do use iTunes Radio in Oz though and discovered a couple of new (to me) artists.

I have never understood the paying to stream idea. Radio stations are good enough for me. Never will pay for music. But, that's just me.

I hate commercial music radio stations - ads, annoying Djs, ads, lack of control over what I listen to, ads - did I mention ads? I really dont like ads.

I agree, but sometimes I feel like I am in a minority when it comes to choosing streaming or iPod over traditional radio.

Other than needing data I feel like streaming is so much better. Traditional radio play commercials just as much as music, which if it is not HD radio, sounds horrible.

But I notice that all my brothers, 6 of them, ages 30-49, still listen to traditional radio.

Maybe it is a generational thing.

I only listen to talk back radio in the car (amusing to hear people getting so angry about things).

I don't think I have listened to commercial music radio for 10 - 15 years (I am in the 30-49 generation myself).

I prefer to always pay for premium content and pay to avoid ads - I hate the move to ad based apps - I alway buy the non-free version to test - unless it is above $20.

I am not sure I need Apple Radio but prefer it to ad based radio.

Oh Apple… Sorry you went out and bought Beats for for $3Billion, but I can do without just another music streaming service. Maybe some day.

I'm ready for a stability-centered iOS 9

Yes to this. I can't believe the volume of annoying bugs that have continued to exist in iOS7 and 8. Ranging from simple GUI issues to out and out crashes (Podcasts anyone??).

I'd like to see iOS9 focussed on less flashy, in-your-face changes and a focus on stability and optimisation.

I think Beats always made money, similar to Apple, on hardware (headphones). I don't own them, almost all Sennheisers, but it seems to be good brand :)

Therefore, part of valuation of Beats was its future profits. I think with increased Beats linkage with Apple, its sales have actually expanded. So it makes money.

Second, it had already arrangements in place for streaming services, which also made money. And we don't know what other things Beats had.

All in all, its not money-losing acquisition per se.

As for streaming services expansion, Apple is trying to get content makers on board and get them paid for their creation, which is a good thing for artiists and will bring us more good music and better artists.

As for spotify and others who make living off stealing virtually others' creations, sore losers.

Agreed here 100%. I think, at least for the iPhone, the current iOS 8 is not wanting for features, but stability is needed.

I just can't get over how ugly that icon is. Not to mention anyone under the age of 20 wouldn't even know what it represents.

The yearly fee is what makes it great, pay it and forget about it. If they were smart they'd leave it alone or integrate it into one price and make it a convincing option

So instead of buying a Spotify card for 6 months i will only need a 2 months one...

Sony currently offers this for $159.95.

As always this long list of countries will be US, Canada, UK, Germany, France and Australia. Maybe South Korea and Japan.

The rest of the world will keep using Spotify, including myself.

At first I had a US account on my phone just so I could use iTunes Radio, then I realized what for ?

I don't understand how can it be so hard for Apple to get licensing worldwide, or the same as Spotify has.
