I Want TabletPC Functionality!

for those who want a tablet Mac check out the ModBook at http://www.axiotron.com/index.php?id=modbook. The Air and Netbooks are two seperate animals. But it would be great for them to come out with a 9" or 10" netbook.

Tablet and ModBook are fine, but what I really, really would like from Apple is:

A) A convertible tabletPC design like my little Fujitsu P1610 (8.9" display) that I can use either in laptop mode with keyboard or flip display around and fold it back to be like a slate and write on it.

B) Based upon item 'A' above, have OSX have more developed tablet oriented functionality built into it for:

1) Proper handwriting recognition to convert it to text if you want and
2) Searchable ink (ie, if you leave handwriting as-is)
3) Proper tablet input panel functionality to be able to write in fields instead of typing
4) An application similar to MS OneNote to store/organize notes and info
5) Gestures support with stylus
6) OS to take advantage of ability to use touchscreen

All of the items 1-6 above are available through WinXP TabletPC edition or even more integrated into Vista.

Why can't I get this same (or even better...) functionality from Apple??? and in a hardware package the size of my P1610 or even a bit smaller (7" display...)

I am a very new Apple customer/user with the recent purchase of my iPhone. After spending a few days on it I am thoroughly intrigued with the rest of Apple's product line.

One purchase I would like to make is a small laptop for use mainly as a net surfer, some Y! IM and most importantly a base for my iTunes. I noticed Dell released what I believe is a "Netbook" PC and while it could probably use a little more space on the hard drive I could go for it as a supplement to my laptop.

Now... if Apple released such a device then I would be all over it in a heartbeat. Using the Mac Netbook for the task listed above I could then also evaluate the Mac OS X platform and see how well I like it. If I liked it most likely I'd be next in line for an iMac or MacBook Air or Pro as a replacement for my Dell XPS 1330.

So wanted to say thanks for this dicussion being out there. I view it as a totally new segment which Apple should address in true Apple style. It could work in reverse and gain more customers to the MacBook line such as myself as mentioned above.

Thanks for the info...

Although that first link is incomplete, but got it from your second link...

Anyway, OK, so that's not a convertible tablet design but it is a slider design like the HTC Shift that I had for awhile....which is almost as good...

To be clear, the main point for me, is to be able to have:

A) tablet functionality
B) Laptop functionality
C) An OS that fully takes advantage of having 'A' and 'B'

:)
