They did.
The 12 Mini dropped to $599 after the 13 mini came out, and after the 14 came out the 13 Mini could be found for that same $599.
It… did not help.
The thing is, it’s not phones that cost less that were cannibalizing the mini iPhone, it was the more expensive ones like the regular and the Pro Max.

The iPhone Fold will already have hole in all likelihood, since it won’t have Face ID, so it would just be continuing that design.
 
Get rid of the ugly, obnoxious, oversized, overbearing and just plain ridiculous obsession of one upping each other with the Camera. Put a regular good enough camera for those of us not obsessed with narcissistic selfies...and get rid of that bump/island.

I think there has been a lot of unneeded confusion regarding that device.
It’s not really a 20th anniversary edition, it’s just… the 2027 iPhone Pro.
It just happens to be releasing in the same year as the 20th anniversary edition and it will be getting the first big redesigned screen since the 14 Pro or (going back even further) the X.
If you literally look at the rumors of the device, the main big changes that the screen will curve around the edges and the dynamic island will be getting smaller. Visually striking from the front, but other than that, it’s just your regular pro iPhone. Triple cameras on the back, regular chip upgrade, aluminum edges. Just an upgrade to the display design.
The only reason rumors keep calling it the ‘20th anniversary iPhone’ is because that generates more clicks.
 
The more often I read these news, the less I want to buy a new iPhone. It doesn't interest me at all... neither fold nor an iPhone with bent glass... I have the times of galaxy edge behind me.

Gurman 100% getting the controlled leak from Apple that the folding phone will deliver in 2026 after executives saw that pretty significant stock market slide over the unverified rumor of a delay into 2027.
 
I have one doubt apple now made the pro lineup targeted for pro because of all that aluminum and stuff. so which model in 2027 will feature a new design because it won’t be practical for a pro phone to be quad curved.

In Italy (Europe) the iPhone 13 was 979€, the mini was 879€. After taxes.
Keep in mind that the average wage here is around 1100€ monthly.
So, for us, an iPhone mini was very expensive for what it provided.

The main innovation I'd be interested in from iPhone is for it to match the price of the Galaxy A17 ($174 new).

That's real innovation ... price.

I’m pretty sure that’s what they did with the Air…. And the result is nobody’s buying it

Same here. No interest in buying - although the engineering is fascinating.

From a practical standpoint it adds a likely overcomplicated and fragile mechanism to break. Plus you need two hands to open and close it - unless it's going to be spring loaded or motorized. That would be cool, but one-handedly juggling a spring-loaded, fragile electronic device costing $2K+ leaves me cold.
 
Yes Apple should go back to the style of camera in the iPhone 4 / iPhone 5. Have it flush with the back. Single camera lens. Smaller image sensor. I don't really care about fancy photo capabilities on a phone. Basic is fine. Ideally there isn't three lenses on my phone.

…Foldables/Rollables are tremendously more useful and functional with more effective use of two hands such as typing, creating, and editing.

Being able to contextually do so is a big pro for productive/power mobile users.

Smartphones are after all just pocket PCs long overdue of being more useful on-the-go.
 
I’m sure the 20’ll look really cool but for everyday’s practicality you really can’t beat the recent Pros’ form with the exception of the annoying camera bump. I’m not carrying a $1200 computer in my pocket without a case so curved edges, hell even “edgeless”, would be a detraction for me.

- get rid of the camera bump
- get rid of the action button
- add touch ID
- I like the Dynamic Island but if they’re bored I’d be okay with getting rid of the punch holes
- bring back pacific blue (not that it matter since I always have it in a case)
- leave the rest alone
