And now i cant get rid of the US TV app to reinstall Video.

I can find TV in the app store but every time i install it i get US providers

I didn't magically appear for me, until I restarted my iPad, upon which, the "Videos" app is gone, replaced by the "TV" app.

However, I cannot see it being much use (unless I am missing something...) as - for example - if I click on the banner for "The Grand Tour", it then prompts me to open the Amazon Video app.... so why do I need the TV app then?

Am I the only one that wishes they'd get rid of the TV app altogether? It's just another button I have to push and screen to navigate through to get back to the original Apple TV homescreen so I can get to the apps.

If it only has 60 channels in the US, how many does it have in Europe?

Use the following, it worked for me.

https://appsto.re/us/vrW-fb.i

Cheers, same as below happened to me, switching to US store gave me the app, but then switching back to UK store (e.g. by going on a UK app link such as JustEat) caused it to auto-delete and Videos to return.

For me in UK this results in being told the item is not available, do I want to switch to the US store

Just tried that and although it works it lists all the USA content providers not UK.

I’ll wait for it to appear in the UK store.

Rebooting phone has "worked" - TV app is there but greyed out and saying "Waiting..." (edit: now disappeared and gone back to Videos - bah!)

A word of warning: If all you currently use the Videos app for is watching movies you have synced to your device, you are going to absolutely hate the TV app (it makes accessing your local library convoluted), and you won't be able to get the Videos app back once it's been replaced on your device.

I wish you could remove some of the sports or at least re-order them.

Having to scroll past the sports i don't care about is already becoming annoying.

I never use it but that's a bit crap - is there not some way around it using Files?

It can access the locally synced files, just not as easily as the Videos app. It's the same thing that happened to the Music app when they integrated AM. You just have to wade through all the store/streaming/subscription crap now to get to the stuff you already have loaded on your device. The TV app is also not as good at accessing/playing from your Home Shared iTunes Library.

Aye thought as much - I have "Show Apple Music" turned off in settings which improves it a little but it annoyingly doesn't get rid of connect or radio.

BBC - Check
ITV - Check
C4 - :-( [Pull your ***** finger out guys!]
C5 - Check
Now TV - Check
Netflix - Check
Prime - Check

Now if only they could make sure they all support:-

Live TV (Where applicable, Netflix and Prime get a pass here)
TV App (Looking at you Netflix, Now TV)
Siri Universal Search (Hoping the TV app integration implies this although Netflix support this but not the TV app yet)
Top Shelf (Surprised and a little disappointed that BBC iPlayer & Now TV did not already include this)

So C4 and Now TV have the most work to do it seems, with an All4 Apple TV app being my personal priority.

With the above covered off the only time I'd use my television without the Apple TV is with my Nintendo consoles :)

Add Sky to the list and i would be happy.

Sky Go must be in that list. But I doubt Sky would go anything but instead focus on that damn NowTV.

I mean Sky Go doesn't even support AirPlay or Casting.

Rather than press multiple times, hold down the Menu button on the remote and you will go straight back to the apps :)

Now TV covers that for me :) I don't subscribe to Sky, just Sky movies through Now.

I’ve now got it on my iPhone by rebooting and videos changed to TV but on my iPad it doesn’t work. Still got videos.

I mis-undertood what this app actually does. I thought it played all the content within the app. It doesn’t. It just asks if you want to open another app to play it. Kinda pointless.

You'd think it would appear in the 'Today' section of the UK App Store when it was available, rather than this trial and error business that a lot of people are trying. That said, given what appears to be a rather sad turnout on the UK version, is it really going to be that useful?

Maybe not initially but hopefully more content providers will signup to the app and it will become more useful.
