Where'd you get the Dell? I have an old (matte) 23" ACD that still works beautifully. I'm hoping to add a Dell soon.

What you pay?

£215 from Scan for a Dell U2311H. Got the soundbar attachment from eBay for £11.99.

It's sooooo prettyyyy.... :D

And as far as the validity, obviously it's real if it's on Apple's site. I'm cool-wasn't looking forward to any new hardware. It's all gotta happen next week if they're already posting images. What I'm interested to know is who managed to spend enough time and find this thing hidden in the depths of Apple's site...

You all do realize you'll be able to plus these into normal miniDisplay ports as well, so just because it's plugged into a Mac mini or a Mac Pro doesn't mean they have Thunderbolt.

I hope there is a matte display option. This glossy trend sucks.

(I hate to be "that guy" complaining about some random feature on an otherwise great Apple product, but I hate the reflection.)

Yes, you're right. Great display!
The Dell U2311H is rather popular for being a remarkably affordable 1080p e-IPS display. If you are fine with 1080p, the price is often greatly reduced with promo codes.

In addition, I have seen many users remark how the U2711 is $999. I have seen it drop to ~$800 or even less depending on the promotion. Remember, Apple never has sales.

USB Over Thunderbolt?

These pictures depict an cable with only two connectors attaching to the laptops. The USB connector is missing. Does this mean the new displays will get the USB signal over Thunderbolt?

If you look closely you can see that the mac mini is connected to the display via thunderbolt which is not on the current mac mini

Thunderbolt's compatible with MiniDisplay ports, which I'd assume Mac Minis have (they are the only Apple products I'm essentially clueless about), so it isn't necessarily a new model. Unless I'm entirely wrong, which wouldn't surprise me, but I think I got it right this time.

Not true.

Apple has an annual one-day sale on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. Select items receive a modest discount.
Careful you might ruin the perceived value. I am often amazed at the resale value on effectively ancient hardware. Then again Core 2 is overkill for what most people do. The resale game was fun while I could find buyers. There's a sucker born every minute.

Apple has really trashed the iPad market. That's before I even mention other refurbs and mark downs.

These rumor sites are calling "Wolf!" so much these days, they've lost all credibility. I'd like to see Mac Rumors not just repeating every unfounded rumor it comes across.

Make it stop!

At this point, there have been so many conflicting rumors that I half expect Apple to come out with OS 11 next week.

It would be stupid not to report this one since the images come from Apple's site.

You do realize these images are from apple.com when you place the leaked part number into the url...

Air

Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but does this mean we won't be seeing an MBA reboot soon?

For the purposes of a display, what's the need for a Thuderbolt port vs a Mini DisplayPort? It's the same connector right? What's the point? Would it have any advantages at all?

Daisy chaining.
Branding
Support of built in ports on the monitor.
Built in video acceleration (bad idea)
Faster performance.
Stuff a disk in the monitor to make it a Time Capsule.

Many other possibilities exist, these just pop up real quick.

You will be seeing new MBAs it looks like the new Macbook isn't happening.

You and COUGARCAT are giving me different responses. When the article mentions "MacBooks" does it mean Airs or regular MacBooks? Or does anybody know?

Surely, one of these rumors has to be correct.

Well, if MBA's and Lion don't come next week I got dibs on the last week of July rumor. Seeing as Lion is going to be released in July according to Apple :D

So if these displays use Thunderbolt does that mean you can daisy chain one of those RAID external storage devices after the display? As in they just have an extra thunderbolt connector in the back?

No need for a separate USB connector to connect speakers, webcam.
