Beats Studio3 wasn’t that great in sound, ANC (too much audible hiss), fit, or build quality. They really need to start from scratch.

I hope they don't tune them as bass heavy as the HomePod because they will rattle your brain.

They most likely will. Given Apple's target audience, I'm already expecting the frequency pattern to be heavy on the bass and treble with flattened mids.

I’m sure Apple believes they can walk and chew gum at the same time but how about they focus on their core products first.

iOS 11 has been a mess. High Sierra has had too many bugs. The Mac mini and Mac Pro are waiting for a refresh. The MacBook Pro needs to be rethought. No future development on AirPort products. No more Touch ID.

But somewhere was a group of people asking for Apple-branded headphones and Apple is about to deliver. I’m happy for those people.

When hundreds of millions of people are buying their products in a year, bringing in records amount of revenue and profits such that they are the most valuable, profitable company in the world. When Apple retail is the envy of the world in sales per square foot, you'll have to pardon Apple for not worrying about people who say they don't know what to focus on.

It's also amazing that, while Apple is far from perfect, some people simply refuse to accept that Apple isn't like other companies. Their corporate ethos is that they will ship products when they think they are ready, not to satisfy some pundits/analysts/etc., cry for some new model or update. Apple produces great products that hundreds of millions of people around the globe love to buy, and we all get frustrated when we have to wait for the latest, but that's the culture that Steve Jobs created and it's still in their DNA.

soon, they will be doing everything, but nothing properly. They have a real mess and great issues with existing SW & HW lineup so they should primarily focus on fixing the existing problems and making the core products great again. It's difficult to say something positive about Apple these days..

It's important for Beats to be separate from Apple. It has it's own following. For Apple to drop the name would literally throwing money down the drain. Read: http://www.adweek.com/brand-marketi...come-millennials-favorite-audio-brand-175314/

But while Apple needs the Beats brand for the reasons in that article, it doesn't need to embellish the Apple brand with new headphones. Surely it has more important things to spend it's efforts on than two-bit headphones (in the scheme of Apple's revenue).

Alert. Alert. The business world, and especially the tech world, doesn't work the way you think it does. It isn't Tim, Jony and Phil sitting around with all the engineers in a room asking "what should we build this year?" They don't say, "Hey, stop working on that eliminating that bug in High Sierra, and instead build us a wireless headphone."

Apple is spending over a BILLION dollars a month on Research and Development of new products, employing thousands and thousands of engineers, programmers, etc. In just the past three years they have spent over $30 BILLION dollars researching and developing new products. Let that sink in.
These ideas are all in various stages of development, with their own teams of engineers, designers, programmers, and managers--most won't ever see the light of day or for many years.

They have a ton of ideas in various stages of development and when Apple, which to date has had the Midas touch, thinks a product is ready, you'll be able to buy it.

I’m not sure you want engineers currently working on headphones to work on macOS and iOS.

If you go into an Apple Store even Apple treats the HomePod like a lonely orphan putting it almost out of sight of customers and no real information about what it is or how to demo it.
I’ve been to my local Apple Store twice since the HomePod release and there are two out on the front tables on either side of the store—right next to the iPhones—with both employees and customers actively interested in trying it out.

You realize there isn't one team at Apple. The people responsible for this were probably responsible for the HomePod, AirPods, etc. It's not a this-or-that situation. They aren't ripping iOS developers away to work on audio hardware.
Apple have lost focus and are Pushing the brand too hard for the sake of profit rather than concentrating on what matters.

Hence the current state of the products such as the Mac mini.

And who decides what matters? To some people anything that isn’t a Mac is losing focus.

Apple has become a poor imitation 'me-too' company, releasing boring, copycat products late to market and with over-the-top pricing to boot! I can just imagine them busy at work on a "magical" $49 mouse pad or some similar trifle.

So stop buying from them and move along.

I recently picked up the bowers and Wilkins PX. They are on a different level than the other wireless sets I’ve used (bose and Sony)
Great sounding cans, awesome build quality, decent ANC... they do leak sound though and are uncomfortable as hell. Beoplay H9i are my choice ;)

I believe these will be mobile HomePods. The headphones will not only have Bluetooth connectivity, but will connect via WiFi and LTE, with Siri support. No other device will be required if one has an Apple Music subscription. The sound quality plus complete independence from other devices is what will set these headphones apart from others.

I guess you're stuck then, not being willing to do what Apple suggested.

Sorry to hear you're having problems. I've yet to encounter any issues with my iPhone X, including making and sending photographs every day.

Thanks. I posted in the iOS 11 forums, and someone already responded they have this problem on their X and iPad. They did a full restore and it didn't fix the issue.

The standard go-to for level 1 Apple support is "erase your device"...which is really all they can do . It's either a hardware issue or a bug in iOS.

Take a look around you at what people are using 24/7. It's the smartphone and that's what matters, not the Mac mini.

Ever heard of AirPods? Came in cheaper than the competition and there still isn't a real competitor 14 months later.

Why the hate for beats? I bought a pair of beats studio wireless as an open box 3 years ago and I use them 5 days a week at the gym. They still work like a champ. I mean I'm not an audio person so they sound good to me. Are people really that snotty about audio?

Beats are actually good these days, but Studio3 was a major letdown.

Same here at local Apple stores

It’s about establishing forum cred. Not cool liking something mainstream and popular, even if it’s an excellent product.

I have a pair of Bose corded noise cancelling headphones. I don't use them very often cuz I'm not much of a headphone guy, and cords just get in the way for me. But whenever I put them on I'm astonished how well their noise cancellation works. And they're super comfortable, too.

Hopefully Apple can come up with something wireless that's at least as good. While steering around Bose's noise cancellation patents and IP.

I'm right there with you. I'm not much a headphone guy myself, only when a situation calls for it. I would love for Apple to come out with a set of noise cancelling headphones. I would be curious to see what they would be able to achieve in this particular market. My experiences with the Homepod and airpods have been quite positive. I can only assume it would be the same for their headphones.
