Well I bought 4gb of ram from newegg so hopefully they'll compensate me for that if they can't find it. I hope they throw in a free ipod or something since I'm losing alot of time to do my Treasurer work (planning to fire our accountant soon...hehehe).

"hehehe"?

Are you happy about firing someone or showing that you're trying to scam someone?

Sorry to hear about tkepongo's ghastly experience with DHL. I sincerely hope it is found; if not, Apple will replace and DHL will fund it as they are responsible.

Initially, the thread topic was about Apple's warranty service and that's why I'm posting. I'm a recent switcher to my splendid my MBP and so have not, as yet, needed to have it seen to. However, one of the main reasons I switched was the excellence of the service I received two years ago when two of my iPods died, both within warranty, and were replaced without any problem or attempt to seek refuge in contractual small-print.

Re your time concerns, I cannot say that the replacement was speedy, for it wasn't. I found I waited nearly two weeks (ten working days was the time limit Apple stipulated), rather than a few days, so even if DHL locate your MB it may take Apple more than a few days to address the original problem. Cheers and good luck.

I'm the new Treasurer for my fraternity and this CPA is the worst ever. He does not provide financial advice to get us back up on our feet, he overcharges for everything and knows we can barely afford it, poor hygiene, screwed up on our taxes (penalized for $1920), does not send out correct invoices to members.

<p>Overall, he's crap and I'm studying accounting/management information systems so I've decided to change our accounting system to something more efficient, accurate and cheaper. So yeah, the whole fraternity is going to be happy once I fire him....but I need my Macbook back first!!!

In the three years I've owned my MacBook, it's had 3 major issues. It had to be sent to Apple Care twice and for the third time, I went to the Apple Store and asked for a replaecment. All were within warranty. For the first time, there were absolutely no questions or doubts from the person I spoke with, and it was fixed and sent overnight in both ways, the total turnaround time from me shipping it out to receiving it back was three days. The second time, I had to argue with the person on the phone, who, in my opinion, was kind of a jerk. But eventually I got him to have my computer repaired, and i got overnight shipping both ways. The third time, I went into the Apple Store, and talked my way into a replacement. After the replacement, I've had no problems.

DHL called and said she couldn't find it so I have to call Apple again and have them make a claim. Called Apple and was on hold for 40 minutes until the lady said she couldn't do anything until another department calls me back by the end of today. Getting really pissed off here....

So I just dropped off my macbook today at the DHL to be shipped because it had a flickering lcd screen and cracked palm rest. Im really worried if DHL or Apple will mess up and lose my macbook somewhere in the process. Has anyone sent their laptop to warranty before and how was the experience?

Oh, how long does it take to get it back? I currently have no computer to do my work and using a PS3 to go online. :(

why didn't you bring to a apple store?

At this stage, I'd suggest logging each of your phone calls, noting date and time and number of calls, getting names and actual positions within both DHL and Apple of the people whom you speak with, so that you can refer to them in subsequent communications, and then pointedly mentioning all of this when you ask to speak to someone in charge, i.e. someone who has the power/authority to take decisions and remedy problems and negligence of the sort that you have experienced with both companies.

As I posted earlier, I've had very good experiences (thus far) with Apple and this was one of the main reasons I switched. However, I have had to go the logging and making detailed notes of phone calls and other communications route when disputing matters with other institutions, such as banks. It helps to have a record of your grievance, and who and what you have spoken to, and how your problem was dealt with, or not. Oddly enough, it works. Eventually. Good luck and let us know what transpires. Cheers.

why didn't you bring to a apple store?

I brought it into the Apple Store around April but the lady said I would have to send it into Apple's warranty service. During that time I was in the middle of the school term and had alot of work to do so I couldn't. Then summer came up and I got the new Treasurer position and had to do alot of work. When I had 3-5 days to spare, I decided to send it into Apple to get it fixed quickly....but it got lost.

Apple never called me back today. And the lady said it might take about 10 business days total to get everything processed in order to send me a replacement. I might have to buy some kind of pc to do my work....but I'm a poor freaking college student!! That's alot of money being wasted. Do you guys know if it's possible Apple would just let me pick up a laptop from a store instead of waiting?

I called Apple back today and it turned out that the guy I spoke to a couple days ago didn't put my phone number in correctly...even after I repeated to him a couple times! When I spoke to him, it sounded like he was high or drunk so I asked to speak to the manager and made a complaint. She apologized and said someone should be calling me back by the end of today. Nobody called. However, the manager gave me her number if nobody called me back. Guess I'll have to call her tomorrow morning. OMG...this is taking forever. WTF Apple!

then what do you do when you get some dead pixels and you really dont want to use the screen with them??

I called the manager this morning and it turns out that she doesn't work today. When I talked to her yesterday, she specifically told me to call her this morning if I don't get the call from the shipping department yesterday. She obviously lied to me. God WTF!! This is so f*cked up. I just want my laptop back!

Or, she had been so focussed on work all day that it slipped her mind that she wasn't working the next day. That's happened to me several times over the years.

I don't even know what to do anymore. I called Customer Relations, and left messages on the manager's voicemail. The Shipping Inquiry department was suppose to call me two days ago but still hasn't. Does anybody know what to do to help get my laptop back?
