Still no custom watch faces, that's pretty sad Apple, pretty sad.

It was on the top of my wish list, hope it will make it in watchOS 6.
Automated workout is good, so are interactive notifications. I hope to find out more details in platform state of the union that I'm going to watch this morning, they added some API but didn't talk about them in the keynote.

Walkie Talkie is a nice feature, but I don't know many people with AW so it is basically useless to me.

I'm actually using Strava for running anyway so for me it's not a big one really however it is definitely worth it for many users. It was a top of my wish list as well, maybe we get lucky in .1 / .2 update.

True, just wondered if it gets used at all actually, they've announced it years ago as well, a bit overdue.

Series 0 Watches are not supported.

Greedy apple.

I guess series 0 can be compared to like iPad 1 who had only a few iOS updates, while its successor iPad 2 was supported for a long time.
Series 1 is still on sale so I'm pretty sure it will get watchOS 6 thanks to its dual core cpu.

I'm a bit surprised as to how passionately people want 3rd party watch faces. I see the appeal, but all of the features they announced for watchOS 5 are far more important, in my opinion. Plus, watchOS is evolving and changing at a crazy pace still and I totally understand why Apple isn't ready to commit to a particular watch face API yet. The pace at which they can change things would certainly become dramatically slower if they released such an API, and I don't think the benefits of third party watch faces would be great enough to justify that.

I hope this update fine tunes Watch OS in general. After updating to 4.3.1 on my apple watch 2, it's very slow and buggy.. :(

Still not sure why you would use walkie talkie? Can you just make a call instead (I don't have a watch)?

For me its cases where my wife will be in the basement and I need to have her grab something or something like that.

Faster than a call and I don't have to yell loudly across the house.

But I can see it being annoying in public, especially with teens.

I hated those stupid nextel walkies. people using them in public, just make a call. I'll still hear your conversation but I don't have to hear the stupid beep beep beep.

Anyone been able to download this yet ? I've loaded the Dev Profile but it still isn't finding any updates ?
It showed on my WATCH app after installing the profile, but I got errors installing it, I deleted the profile and re-installed it and now the update doesn't show, let me know if it works for you.

Article should note from the Apple press release, that Series 0 is not supported.

  • watchOS 5 will be available this fall as a free update for Apple Watch Series 1 and later and requires iPhone 5s or later on iOS 12. watchOS 5 will not be available on the original Apple Watch. Features are subject to change. Some features may not be available in all regions.

Well that just forced me to upgrade to the version 3. Pity that I can't get the 3 mobile network on it though.

Series 0 was never going to be supported. I knew that when I upgraded in December. Part of the reason I upgraded was because I knew it was about to be left behind in terms of software.

My series 0 Watch was so slow it was almost unusable. Another software update would have ground it to a halt.

Series 1 isn't being restocked anywhere, so it's really until inventories are depleted they will disappear.
