Last week, a number of German blogs noticed Germany highlighted on an Apple Pay availability map within a support document about participating banks in Europe. Germany has since been removed from the map, but the mixup suggests Apple Pay could launch in its fifth European country soon.

Reddit user Alisamix has since discovered that searching for "Apple Pay" on Apple's German website reveals an inactive Apple.com/de/apple-pay/ link and other German-language Apple Pay support documents, lending further credence to the mobile payment service's anticipated arrival in the country.

Apple has invited the media to a special event on Thursday, October 27 at its Cupertino, California campus, and the keynote would be an opportune time for the company to announce additional Apple Pay regions. Apple Pay VP Jennifer Bailey said Apple is "working rapidly" to expand the service across Asia and Europe.

Apple Pay has launched in four European countries to date: France, Russia, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

About time! I see this as the only way vendors here in Germany can be "convinced" to upgrade their terminals for contactless payment methods...

Dont forget the lack of promoting it. Like i had no idea Rewe supports contactless credit card payments until i randomly read it in a fine print a few days ago" the stuff doesnt even know about it

Wouldn't it be great ...? :)

But why is Spain missing on the map? Spain was already announced one year ago at the conference call after earnings call last autumn.

It's about time!
How I wished this would be true ... and rather sooner than later.

The thumbnail on the front page shows a giant picture of Russia, not Germany. I thought the mods here were taking crazy pills.

This would be amazing. Already used Apple Pay with boon in Germany at Starbucks, and they didn't even know how it worked. But it's great. I would switch my bank, if mine won't have it.

- I have, too, a few places in Germany. And in various stores in Denmark, Italy, and Spain, too.

Though after a while boon. disabled the functionality here in Denmark. :(

I'm hardly excited about it!
In Germany I am expected to pay 2000€ kitchen with cash. I can't remember when I used my credit card last time to swipe. Forget about contactless. In a country where you're required to pay for most of the daily stuff with cash or EC-card, I don't see much use. I own a credit card only because I shop sometimes online.

I hope Radio Deutschland doesn't force us to pay for contactless stuffs! They probably involve some radio signals.
