It’s flipping depressing looking at my watch, because I’m more active at home then at work!
I get plenty of exercise at work. Most spent heading off folks jumping to conclusions!

I agreed, it's a funny thing. For me is swimming, I have been 108 days closing the rings. I never expected this would be a motivator but here it is. I miss my Omega Seamaster but my shape and health is so much better now due the Apple Watch. The data gathering is very interesting to see where and how you can improve your workouts. Great job Apple!
Doesn't your Apple Watch increase its expectations every week to raise the bar until you can't keep up??
I don’t know about you, but my Watch counts most of my walking as exercise (but I’m a pretty fast walker), even without ever entering the Workout app. No need to do an intensive workout. Being modestly active every day is a good idea for just about everyone. This watch has inspired me to get out there, and keep working. I'm pretty consistent, 6-7 days a week. Just did 10 days in a row. However, I am really pissed off at this. No one, and I mean no one, should work out every single day. The interface is simplistic. Just do everything all the time. I'm 65 and it's not good for me to not put a rest day in there once in a while- like once a week. Even elite athletes do that... at some interval. There should not be this emphasis on working out every single day - it ought to be 6 days, or something more complex, like rest days, easy days and harder days. What is wrong with these people that design this? Just like most everything else on the phone, they need to realize that we are not all 12 years old. And we are a community that can afford their products...
addicting.
Before the Pokémon Go app started misbehaving so much, I used to use the integration with Apple Watch to hatch the Pokémon eggs I’d collected. The app started causing problems with my S8+ and my iPhone 7 Plus a few months ago so I’ve since removed it.I still close my rings every day, but to be honest my motivation is a bit less after I achieved 1000 move rings a month or so ago. They need to keep this interesting. Some monthly challenges are ridiculous (but I still close them anyway). They could do a better job from an active person's perspective.
Apple has added a new "Close Your Rings" page to its website that highlights how the Activity app works on Apple Watch.
![]()
The page details how Apple Watch users can close the Move ring by hitting their personal goal of active calories burned, close the Exercise ring by completing at least 30 minutes of activity, and close the Stand ring by getting up and moving around for at least one minute during 12 different hours in the day.Apple also provides tips about how to use and customize certain fitness-related features of the Apple Watch, and highlights Achievements and Monthly Challenges that can be earned by closing the rings in the Activity app.

While the page doesn't provide any brand new information, it should be useful for people who are considering purchasing the Apple Watch. Apple has been highlighting individual features on its website more often lately, including a new page that promotes augmented reality use cases powered by its ARKit platform.

While probably not a popular opinion here. I think Apple trying to be a health company is causing all these bugs and mistakes.
Apple became successful because of technology. Stay focused on the tech part. Not the PR stuff we see daily now.
Apple wants to expand its wings. That’s not a bad thing but the tech part of Apple has suffered in the last couple of years. Maybe they are stretching themselves to thin. Maybe it’s growing pains. Phone tech has basically reached its limits.
I just wish function was important to Apple now. I’m don’t care it the phone is 1 mm thicker and weighs 6 grams more.
difference between move and exercise?
LMAO ... you must work in I.T. like me? Except folks have already jumped to conclusions, and then find me to complain and rantHence why the Breathe app is VERY useful ... "Ooooohmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Ooooohmmmmmmmm"
Job A: Admin of systems used by regulatory, compliance, and validation
Job B: System design, code review, DBA, Testing.
Yeah ... need a lot of Oooooohmmmmmmmmm![]()
Damn I thought I was bald for a reason
PS I may bother you from time to time about learning DBA: Oracle or SQL Server or ?
LOL, I thought of this before but I think it would look very silly to pull it of.You wouldn't be the first person that I've seen with a watch on each wrist. I know someone who wears an Apple Watch on his right wrist and one of his collection of mechanical watches on the left.

The one thing I hate about it is the streaks. I want to have the ability to use other dressier watches, but not lose my streak because I don’t wear the thing one day. Even if it was just for the move goal - my iPhone already tracks steps, so let them get injected into the activity app when there is no data from the watch...
If you are feeling particularly lazy, get up to have pee/make a cup of tea etc about 2 mins before the hour. Unless you're very fast, you won't be back to your preferred slobbing location until a minute or so after the hour. Result is you only need to get up once every 2 hours to get 2 'stand' ring sections closed off.
