Apple's WWDC 2025 Playlists Hint at iOS 26's New Liquid Glass Design

It would be higher contrast in 1998 than this since not all computers at that time were capable of 32 bit color (which has the alpha transparency bits needed for this design to work)
The contrast level is terrible, the lines look fuzzy and the light is coming from the bottom right which causes the highlights to look just plain wrong. The shadows are also too diffuse, too big and imply the light source is from the top left. Overall, it’s a huge mess. Personally, I’m not looking forward to this being extended to all platforms at all.
Once again, the internet has proven that people will bitch no matter what. 🙄

Maybe this is just a way to temper excessive hype (especially since Mark from Bloomberg has basically spoiled and killed the excitement). We'll see... After all, Apple certainly wouldn’t go flaunting the real design just two hours before the event!
Some of the comments are just absurd: "It’s the return of Windows Vista!" And if it had been flat? "Windows 8!" And if it had round icons? "Android!" The mindset is always the same — people always try to link it to something else just to criticize... and if Apple doesn’t change anything, we complain! If they revolutionize everything, we complain again!
It’s clear: people are never satisfied.
And let’s not forget Windows 10 right before its launch...

So from experience — especially over the past 3 months — we know things can still improve, or something might even go wrong!

At this point literally anything will look better than iOS 7 design we have today. Can't stand it. Hated it when iOS 7 came out, still hate it with 18.5.

I’m loving this modern interpretation of skeuomorphism. I’m bored of the flat look. Our devices have beautiful retina screens, we need a design that will take full advantage of that.
The thing is with windows, no one gives a crap because the design has always been functional and mediocre. I mean there are bits of windows 3.1 sticking out in some places still. You could put a turd emoji on all the icons and everyone would just shrug it off and carry on badly fudging that report in Excel for someone who isn't even going to read it.
Apple prides itself on design and consistency and being good at least.

You shouldn't have to use dark mode, having to use dark mode is a sign of a bad UI design.
I swear they are consciously making UI elements harder to see and press. Apple is too much form over function these days

The software department at Apple just needs to be fired. Every single one. This is absolutely awful looking and something I’d expect from a high school coding project, not a global tech leader. And Tim Cook needs to go. How much more does Apple and consumers need to suffer under horrendous leadership

I'll take a wait-and-see on this glass treatment, but man... My initial reaction is more "uh oh" than anything. A potential legibility nightmare. But again, waiting and seeing over here.
