AppleTV 4 unresponsive with hardware remotes

ive tried both my Siri and older aluminium remotes but the device is generally struggling to respond to them, yet works perfectly with my phone and the app.

Has anyone got any ideas short of a restore of the device (saving that as a last resort in case I can't pair the app afterwards!)

Unplug it and plug it back in if you havent tried that yet.

Mine has done the same exact thing twice and this was the solution.

Yeah tried that. No dice. Have set it to restore this morning. Fingers crossed.
