Everything was running smooth until the auto updates started. 18 of my apps needed updates. Now they are just "waiting". I tried resetting the phone already. Resetting Settings too. Nothing. Any suggestions?

Try going in to the App Store -> Updates -> Purchased and see if you can find the apps that are waiting... See if they have a 'pause' icon beside them and try downloading again.

Otherwise you can connect the phone to iTunes, delete the Apps from your phone and then try redownloading.

it works if you are connected to a wifi network, if you are on 3g/LTE it wont work and the app will be "waiting" until you are connected to wifi, if it doesnt do automatically try disabling autoamtic updates and update it manually in the app store while connected to wifi.

This works. I was having issues even when in wifi but turned off background updating and updated through the App Store.

+1 on this. I wrote something similar in another thread several days ago.

I did a hard reset of the phone (power + home button) and it started my apps downloading again. They had been stuck for 24 hours.

Also try going into the App Store and logging out, them back in, or download any free app so it asks for your password. This worked for some people. The apps were waiting for authorization but not asking for it.

Updating on iTunes and syncing my phone worked for me. After that I turned automatic updates off.

A few of my apps were stuck downloading when I restored from icloud backup when I was on iOS 7. I had to delete them and reinstall them.
