PeerGuardian 1.5b1 is working on 10.5.4 for me. And when I say working, I mean it appears to be blocking a number of connections. Specifically, if I have filters enabled, I can't play WoW. :(

Adium is one program that has constanly failed on me. I've re-installed it, deleted folders and files and done everything possible and even with only 1 account (myspaceim) signed on it will freeze up and just hang. It only does it with the latest version which has the myspaceim feature that the previous versions did not.

I've been using Adium for a while now on Leopard, no problems. I've used it with Yahoo, AIM, and Google Talk. Probably the MySpace IM support is busted.

why would u use parallels boot camp is way better well i think so i have parallels and i hate it

You're entitled to your own opinion. The main reason people use parallels is because they can run their Windows (or Linux) apps right by their Mac apps. They don't have to dedicate themselves to just one OS at a time, and they don't have to reboot back and forth all the time.

Granted, for gaming, Boot Camp is much better, as the games detect the actual hardware, and run better because of it. Also, DirectX support is limited in both Parallels and VMware right now, but they're making progress. Before the 256 color patch (hack?) came out for Mac Pros, and I got a nostalgia kick to play Diablo 2, I had to play it through Parallels because I couldn't run it on my Mac Pro natively.

Forgive me if this has been mentioned before, but a lot of my established screen savers don't work under Leopard.

I went from a G3 to an Intel iMac, and most of them stopped working. I get an error message that they are incompatible with this version of OS X, and to please contact the software maker for an update.

Now, I know you're thinking that the reason might be that they were made for very old computers like my G3. But one screen saver is copyrighted 2007, so it can't be that behind the times.

I tried to reinstall that screen saver from the software maker's site, but got a -5000 error message.

I know these are just screen savers, but one in particular is actually a cute mini-app that my granddaughter loves, a children's game. I'd love for her to be able to continue to play it.

Screen savers don't run under rosetta so they have to be intel screen savers for them to work. This has nothing to do with 10.5 but everything to do with intel vs ppc.

Haxial KDX
doesn't work with Leopard.

You would actually have to run windows version with CrossOver.

Sheepshaver?????

Or, do you have another method? I'd be interested in options more like the classic integration.

do you use sheepshaver ?
I haven't had very good luck with OS 9 (I only have disks for 9.2 and 9.2 isn't supported by sheepshaver the last time I looked....a few months ago)

http://sheepshaver.cebix.net/

Quark compatibility

Will quark 6.0 run with an upgrade from 10.3-10.5? Help we need to keep the program on this computer, can I do that?

Anyone here know of apps that won't work on 10.4?

I curently have 10.3.9 with a PowerPC G4 w/ dual 1.25 processors and 2 gig of ram. I want to upgrade to 10.4 - will it be compatibe with my software which is:

Quark 6.5
Acrobat 7.1
Acrobat Distiller 7.0
Illustrator CS1
Photoshop CS1
AND
Microsoft Office (Microsoft Office X)

I really can't afford to go buy all the software again and I don't want my system to crash or apps not to work. Any suggestions?

This upgrade is mostly spawned due to the recent purchase of a new iPod Nano... Not supported by my current OS! Man, I didn't read the requirements, shame on me. However, the dang thing will work on my kid's PC w/ XP Pro. I only got the Nano cause it's mac - he wanted the Zune that ONLY works w/ PC... Waa!!

Anyway - any suggestions on an upgrade?

Thanks,
Uphype

I'm not sure about Quark, but the Adobe stuff should be fine. You could go the long route, and install 10.4 on another hard drive, and install your apps from there. That way you won't disrupt your current workflow.

Palm Desktop Problem still there

I just upgraded from a 1.25GHz Power PC G4 to an Intel Duo 2.8 GHz and Leopard 10.5.5. I downloaded and installed Palm Desktop 4.2.1 and it worked well--I sync'd my data to the new machine from my TX. Then I downloaded the latest Apple security update. Several days later I attempted a hot sync and got the message that conduit manager quit unexpectedly from Leopard. Now I cannot get hot sync to work either with the USB or Bluetooth. It appears that the security update broke Conduit Manager 3.2.1, and all the kings men can't seem to fix it. It still works well on my G4 running Leopard 10.5.5, and I have purposely not downloaded the security update.

Anyone else have this problem?
Is there a way to de-install the security update?
Thanks,
UW

Garageband 2

I've experienced bad graphic problems with Garageband 2, while I know that later versions work fine.

Tux racer won't work

I've tried to install tux racer on my mac lap top. I've tried many different versions of it and all of them don't work. It downloads then when i click on it it says it has unexpectedly quit. If anyone knows what the problem is your advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm using it

Apparently Cisco's VPN client will not work with Leopard, meaning anyone who relies on that will have to wait for Cisco to release an update.

EDIT: On further consideration, this might not be true. My University posted a warning that the VPN client wouldn't work with Leopard (just as the old version didn't work with Tiger), but they have removed that warning from their site now.

Hello,

I'm using the CISCO VPN client with absolutely no problems. No crashes, etc.

I use OpenOffice (www.openoffice.org) and have for years with zero problems. Works fine for me on OSX too.

Actually, GrowlTunes works on my computer, and so does Google Earth. I've tested it. It may be different for me, though, because I have 10.5 not 10.5.6. I'm running off of my backup because when I installed 10.5.6 on my real machine, when I booted up, it kept crashing whenever I tried to log in for my user. I had to use my other user account. :(:mad:

I've been trying forever to use Sheepshaver, but it won't work. Am I downloading the wrong version? Can anybody tell me how to use it???

Recently set up 10.5.7 to dual boot with 10.4.11. EVERYTHING works in Leopard except Kodak (Creo) Prinergy Connect/Workshop 2.3. (And yes, I know we're several versions behind.) Unable to select anything in the "Signatures" window, but everything else is perfect. Makes it a little bit useless. Anybody else have this experience? Anybody have a solution?

This thread is (at least) temporarily closed due to a certain Leopard/Snow Leopard confusion.

If there's not already a dedicated "Apps that WON'T work on Snow Leopard" thread somewhere, or equivalent, feel free to make one.

In a few days/weeks, when the worst Snow Leopard commotion is over, and anyone still wonders about Leopard apps (or has answers to anybody in this thread), feel free to report this post (use the report button,

) and ask for the thread to be re-opened.
