Developers have to eat and pay bills too.

Hahah, yeah I know. Although I don't charge my clients when a new version of SharePoint arrives and my web apps no longer work with the new version. They care they bought an app a month ago, and will be pissed if I told them they had to pay again, cuz I couldn't oversee an upcoming update of the platform...

We already paid an app!

I understand, but how many versions should a developer go before asking for new purchases? Honest question. It's a tricky line to walk. We're used to paying for new versions of desktop software, but somehow, we don't look at mobile software quite the same.

Don't compare it to a desktop application, please. Most desktop applications have an "update" price. I am alright to pay for an update package if it had some added value besides the support of a newly released platform.

One of my home screen apps got updated for iOS 7, Nike Running. I'm so happy :)

Guys, I'm an avid podcast listener and now that I'm seeing apps like Instacast and Pocketcast updating to iOS 7. It's making me want to switch over. Any preference of one over the other? Both updates look great. Or should I wait for the iOS app update.

Desktop apps cost much more than mobile apps. The cost of your average iOS app is less than the desktop's update price. (That said, Apple should provide update pricing, both on the MAS and iOS App Store. Don't think they will though.)

I agree that developers shouldn't charge for compatibility updates, only major versions with new features.

I haven't used Pocketcast, but I prefer Instacast because it has a terrific Mac
App that syncs.

A Skype update is out...no mention of iOS 7 though in the release notes.

Evernote is updated too with iOS 7 stuff.
