Touchosc is a good app for djs and vjs.

But times there are wifi and latency issues.

my controller for my Sonos music system was dying... and the price of a new touch screen one wasn't far off the price of an ipad... well, not too far off ;-)

I was stunned, though, by how crap Safari was on it... no tabs, lame bookmarking, no speed dial - all fixed by buying icab though.

UPad
Zinio
Idiolog - communicator client through my company
Dropbox
Safairi
FX stuido
Vulcano- same as sling box
Amazon
Show of hands ( fun polls on current events)
ML
Words with friends
Holy Bible
App store (lol I am addicted)

Filesystem apps come to mind especially.

Zen Viewer
iFiles
GoodReader
DownloadsHD
ReaddleDocs

For some reason some folks have been saying the iPad has no filesystem. It does, in fact, have plenty. Lots of options, all downloadable, and a few of them are quite feature-rich.

Beyond these, the apps that have more than made my iPad purchase worth it:

iCab
Azul media player
Evernote
Notability
Penultimate
Reeder
Feedly
Pages (WriteRoom is a gem for word processing as well)
GoodReader
DropBox
iTeleport (VNC on the iPad is amazing)
And of course, Air Video
