I'm back to comp sci too, should be my final year, if I enrolled right....
yup final year for me too! hopefully lol.

Argh, I wouldn't know that was a stupid question. But alas, I'm not that cruel, most of the ppl working there aren't exactly tech people to begin with.
there is no "FSB" on them lol.. thats why its funny :D

No thanks.
oh ok ill give it to somebody else then ill mail it to you? lol

One of the reasons why I don't want a job at an Apple Store is cos they are looking for friendly salespeople, rather than techheads, plus the whole, 'put words in your mouth thing', it's probably one of the things I'll get over, but not for me yet.

For invisible ink, use #fafafa

Hmm, I'll hold off getting a copy for now, until I can get my hands on a machine to run it off more permanently.

i went for a job there, i know quite a lot about apple products and technology (not being snobby) but i wasnt friendly enough in the group seminar thing that we had. can you blame me? one on one and i would have nailed it!

teehee good choice! im playing around with server but havent found any uses for it yet lol. i want to get the whole "group policy" thing happening (donno the mac term), and logging in going - but i need a test OS on another computer to get that going lol! trying to have a play with the mail server too but its being stupid. good fun though!

ill try setup VPN a bit later tonight.

I need to stop stuffing up that quoting thing...

I would nail it too. They need a position called 'Apple Guru' as a goto guy when guys like us walk in. Perhaps their job depends on how much they know, if a smartass walks in, and the Guru is shown to be lacking, then they get their job...awesome!

This is invisible. This is not invisible

It was like then I was getting into websites and tried installing all these free tools like forums and what not, then realising that they are only great if someone else uses it. Ala OS X Server for one person in the house lol

Let me know how it all goes.

Hope this wasn't too hard to read.

HA! thats a brilliant proposal. i am the go-to-guy in real life anyway so why not make it into a real job! id be up for that :D

This is invisible. This is not invisible
ohh.. i see now. mybad!

kind of overkill hey. but i want to get into network admin, so it seems only logical to have a play!

Let me know how it all goes.

nah highlighting it is the solution ;) ill call back when it works maybe.

yup it doesnt take too long. my process adds another step though which adds about an hour.

HAHA! maybe, too bad we live to far away :(

naww. thanks crappy ISP people!

MORNING!

yea man thats totally sick! id love to be able to do that! if only i didnt have to worry about bandwidth usage. it would be a double whammy for me doing iTunes streaming - the uploads from my house count towards out internet usage at home, and the downloads at uni count towards my quota there. we have to pay for it :(

i am def still interested in the VPN tunnel. !

http://www.maclive.net/sid/132

here's the guide i followed to set up my 10.5 server, it's not 10.5 or 10.6 but it's def enough to guide you through it, it's pretty close. This worked wonders for me, if you need anymore help just let me know...

oh wow! thanks heaps that looks like it will work a treat :D will let you know how it goes!

sounds good, good luck, one thing to make sure, i didn't mention and i'm unsure if that guide explains it or not, but with the vpn tunnel if you route all traffic through the vpn tunnel you can address a computer on your home network with it's in house ip address which for me is static on my server and imac which is very convenient

i thought that was the case. VERY convenient thanks for mentioning that! i also use static IPs for my "desktop" computers, i.e. iMac, hackintosh, ps3 etc. laptops i dont care about.
