Mac Pro configs.
The early 1st gen models did come only in two proc setups until the quad cores became available. Then there was single proc model. However, Apple is known to offer a low end BTO config (the 2008 Mac Pro could be had in a single 2.8 quad core proc). My point is that eventually the single proc setups will go by the wayside, and Apple will focus on giving more for less. Here is where I got my info from, since I went from a Quad G5 to a 8 core 2.8 Mac Pro to my present Nehalem 2.93 8 core.
