What you need to do is wrap your first-gen iPad in aluminum foil when you're not using it. That way the gamma rays sent to it by Apple won't be able to penetrate the iPad's surface (specifically on the screen) and cause it to slow down. Be forewarned, Apple already knows about this defense tactic and is currently draining the world's aluminum supply by using it in all of their products. The only company that can still obtain aluminum for use in their tin foil is Reynolds Wrap. If you go to your local grocery store and see a man in a suit and a fedora hanging out by the Reynolds Wrap, get the hell out of there. He's one of them!

+1 internets :D
Also if you find your iPad 2 with "bleeding light" "issues" merely wrap that up in some foil too. It'll keep the magic contained within the iPad 2 and not let it escape.

besides the obvious (running multiple apps in the background, less space available, etc.) maybe you turned on the 'allowing the ipad to connect with apple to send them info about your usage' that may be working in the bckground. Or maybe you have too many email info stored on the pad as well.

I've noticed with my iPad on 4.3 (first gen) that when I have email loading/retrieving and using several apps it slows down considerably. but I do not think this is a 'software upload that Apple does to purposely force people to buy a new tech'...

we are reading into it too much...

Clearly, Steve Jobs snuck into your home and entered a secret code on your iPad that slowed it down. Steve is doing this on all of the original iPads, one by one. That is why he is on leave from Apple.

Are you insane?!?

The thing has wireless! Why would he go to your house to do his dirty work when he can do it remotely?

Hell why do it personally when you have an army of umpa lumpas at your bidding?

I swear people don't even think before they post....

Regardless of what the paid posters say, the facts are that the 4.3 update has slowed my iPad 1st generation down.

This may be due to multitasking (I updated from 3.x). The fact is that with 3.x I was getting a score of 455 with the geek bench app, and now I am getting 428.

I do not need an app to tell me that my system is slower now, but the apps helps me confirm my concerns.

There is no reason to deny it. I am not so pissed because I saved 300$ by buying the AT&T special.

Hi everyone, i thought id share my experiences and pose the question to see if anyone else has noticed the same issues.

It all started with my iPhone 3GS, when the iPhone 4 came out within a few days my 3GS bcame noticibly sluggish......I put this down to coincidence

Now the same issue has seemed to have affected my iPad

I think my G1 iPad is great, from thinking it was a pointless piece of tech on release to trying it and fallin in love with it a few days after release i bought one and have used it more than I ever used my Macbook Pro

However, the last few days (since the release of iPad2) it has become very sluggish when starting apps, switching between apps and web browsing has also become slower, pages take longer to load on ANY wifi connection, i have tried a restore and even running with no apps on it to see if it was a memory issue but the results are th same

We all know that anything can be done with software but would apple be sneaky enough to make devices operate slower to prompt upgrades??

I have absolutely NO interest in buying an iPad2 but this cannot be coincidence, my GF noticed the same issues with her 3G iphone when the 3GS came out

....Did you upgrade your version of iOS?

Also, tin foil is actually on sale this week.

Actually I agree... kind of. With 4.2 I thought things got slower (a tiny tiny bit slower)... slight stuttering when launching apps. With 4.3.1 though this is now resolved.

yes it did, my old 3G is practically a brick it's so slow, 3GS is noticeably slower after the 4.0 update.

I haven't noticed any slowdown with the iPad 1 yet.
