For what it's worth, I'm a student at BU and the past few weeks employees at the University Computers store have confirmed upon the October 14th refresh date. Whether or not they read rumor sites or not, I don't know. However, today, they began a sale on all MB and MBP. It seems kind of suspicious that a store would do this without some sort of idea of new products in the pipeline.

I go to BU too! :)

I got that email and thought we were in the clear. But no announcements makes me wonder..

some other rumor has surfaced about an $800 macbook

Wow - no matter what is introduced when, everyone is going to be extremely disappointed when the new laptops don't live up to the hype.

I hope that the suicide counseling phone centers have extra staff next Tuesday...

some other rumor has surfaced about an $800 macbook

Talking to an Apple store guy this afternoon and I mentioned about the rumor of nothing being released on the 14th - he just had a bit if a smile and an " I would like to say something but can't" look on his face.

One thing I'm still confused about, guys, is whether or not updated machines are available in-store the same day they are made available online. All of my prior computer purchases were made online, so I really have no idea, but I want to buy in-store this time, if possible--I'm pretty sure that at this point, my brain will spontaneously combust if I have to wait a moment longer than absolutely necessary! :D

new mb

newegg is giving 4 gb memory with every mbp offer ends 14. so i would think that they are trying to get rid of there stock because they either have new ones or know they will be released the 15. free bag with macbooks and airs

harddrive

Does anyone want to speculate about hard drive in the "upcoming" Macbook Pro - I am hoping for at least 500gb!!!

500 gb is possible and a likely bto option. samsung has a 9.5mm 500gb drive released in march
i am thinking 250/320 500 bto

I'm confused about your suggested times--According to most people here, they update the online store at around 9 AM east coast time (I'm in Boston). So... If I see that they're in the online store at that time, I should be able to go into a B&M store and buy one as well? Someone suggested to me a week or so ago that the stores don't get them until a few days after the website starts selling them, which didn't make sense to me, but this is Apple we're talking about--so who knows? I guess my best bet will be to call the store before I go over. I just know the phone lines will probably be jammed full of people trying to ask the same question, and I wanted to avoid being on hold for three hours if possible... But you gotta do what you gotta do, I guess.

time zone

left of am
9 easter
8 central
7 montain
6 pacific
give it a half hour because sometimes it does not come back up or is flooded and takes a few minutes to get in. I am not sure when the stores open but as soon as they open yes they should be there. according to rumors they have been shipping for a month now.

When there are special events like the one next week, the store typically goes offline an hour or so BEFORE the event starts and comes up some time after the event has finished. I wouldn't expect to see the store updated BEFORE the event has happened (i.e. 9 AM east coast time).
