I believe they already have a license for transitions. Or at least some form of it.
Lens Crafters? They won't need it once the merger goes through. I'd have no problems if Luxottica brand stuff were of high quality, but quality suffers at their hands. I've got two pairs of solid built, classic style brown Oakleys I use when I'm out fishing. I fear losing them because I know the new ones are terrible in build quality and nothing can match their build quality and how well they protect my eyes.

I found that Oakleys got better in quality from what they were 15-20 years ago.

What range? The cheaper ranges were always terrible and gave off that college look. Mine are fairly basic in design, square-ish lenses with a dark brown coating. I don't wear glasses aside from reading when I'm forced to because of fine print, but how are the Warbler Parkies or whatever they're called? They're independent of Luxottica, aren't they?

I used to wear the wire frames but they would always bend out of shape. Now they seem a lot stronger. I love Oakley eyeglass frames. Very light and durable.

Yes Warbey Parkers are independent.

Those were popular in the day. Those were fantastic for driving. There was a period in sunglass design where the sides of the eyes were also covered, often leading to accidents.

Ive shifted back to Ray Ban for sunglasses. By the time I pay for prescription lenses it's just too expensive to do Oakley.

Hmm. Do you have any ZeroRH+ dealers near you or stores that carry it? I believe their eyeglass division is under Luxottica at the moment. I had my reading glasses redone in 2009 or 2010 and picked out a ZeroRH+ frame. Sleek, modern and reminiscent of those Oakleys, except sturdier.

On my next set of eyeglasses I will be passing on the Prevencia, I will get Sapphire or the Avance.

I called the optical store that I know about that carries some non-Luxottica eyeglass frames and I asked them about this merger and he said that they will continue to use Crizal AR. The guy on the phone said that they were the best in the business according to his opinion. We shall see how the goes.

As anyone tried Hoya? I think they are owned by a different company. I have read good things as far as life time and scratch resistance. but not sure about cleaning and smudge resistance.

Kodak. But they're in San Diego. Regarding the cleaning of coated lenses, I suggest using a Lens Pen. Follow the directions.

Do yours have the Scotchguard on them?

Mine do, the Avance lens. Had I known it was coated with toxic scotchguard I would have told the doc not to use it but I had no idea which coating he was going to use.

If you use the computer a lot, you may want to get the Prevencia, which protects your eyes from the blue light..

Here's a review of the Prevencia
http://tiffanyyong.com/2014/10/09/crizal-prevencia-lens-challenge/

I originally had this coating but kept seeing blue or purple artifcacts out of the corner of my eye so I returned them. I got the Avance without my knowledge and not happy about the Scotchguard coating.

I'm still getting nauseous using the glasses (for the computer). I have astigmatism and wish I could have gotten away with just using Gunnars. Those don't make me nauseous but were too weak for me

I wonder if they got your prescription right. Did they get the axis correct?

I believe so. I think it may have more to do with the amount of astigmatism correction than anything else but now when I take the glasses off to go drive or read my vision is worse than before

How high is your stigs.

Not sure, I have to get my numbers from the doc.
The Gunnars are only .2 magnification so of course not strong enough. They do make readers which can go higher, I remember the doc saying my distance vision (21-28 inches for computers) was 1.25 but he reduced it to 1.0 since the last pair bothered me.
Of course I assume there is also a correction for astigmatism that Gunnars can only have with the prescription.

I just hate the way these glasses feel when I take them off. My regular vision is impaired and I feel a little odd

Now, Crizal Sapphire 360 UV is available. I have yet to be able to see any samples of it yet.

I forget what exact coating I have on my lenses-it's whatever Crizal whiz-bang the optical shop was pushing last year when I filled my prescription.

In any case, I got a new set of lenses just a week or two ago.

I then went out to do some photography yesterday, and among other cameras was using a Nikon FM that has a bare metal eyepiece. Sure enough, when I got home I had a nice round ring once again scratched into my lens.

Hopefully I can get a replacement...and I'm also going to order a cheap set of glass lenses and have them put in an old frame. Even though the Crizals warranty against scratches, it's still a pain to have them replaced and I'd rather just have lenses that WON'T scratch.

An optician gave me a number to the wholesale lab that provides the coatings. He said Sapphire is better than hoya EX3. According to him that is the best one can get from what I understand in terms of anitglare. Prevencia has a blue light mirror finish built in but not exactly the same as Sapphire. One will not get the anti-glare performance.

I think i may try an eyezen lens with the Sapphire coating. eyezen has a blue filter built in. Zeiss digital lenses are good i have read as well but eyezen is cheaper. Please let me know your results. I have made much progress in allowing myself to work pleasantly with artificial lighting, mainly led. but it is still not perfect. am getting there slowly though.

other things that have helped. ten percent yellow tint has been good. blu techs have been good. I think next eyezen with a tint and the sapphire coating.

in terms of frames. opticians recommend black frames with a matte finish. i have personally had better luck with translucent frames that are made of acetate or plastic.

Keep up the good fight. and of course if there is disagreement with what i have said. please correct me.

i have Crizal forte (i think) currently in my glasses. I work in the desert, hence a very dusty environment, and the dust is hard and scratches everything. The crizal coating is fantastic. Had it over 2 years and lenses still like new. Every other coating I've tried has left my glasses looking like I've run sandpaper over them after a week or two.

I will definitely use Crizal when I need too change my prescription, cant recommend it enough.
