I just found an old spreadsheet with my fees/aid for senior year (2010-11):

Per semester

Tuition - $15,520.00
Student Activity Fee - $325.00
Technology Fee - $110.00
CTA U-Pass - $105.00
Lab Fee - $50.00

Total: $16,110.00

Financial Aid

Pell Grant - $2,750.00
SEOG (Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant) - $1,000.00
Perkins Loan - $500.00
Subsidized Stafford Loan - $2,750.00
Unsubsidized Stafford Loan - $1,000.00
Scholarship - $4,500.00.00
University Grant - $6,000.00

Total: $18,500.00

Left over - $2,390.00 ($4,780.00 for the year)

Living expenses at $650.00/month
Chicago rent (3BR - $500/month)
Split utilities, groceries, booze
@ 12 months - $7,800 (minus leftover for the year = $3,020.00 needed)

I worked full time during the summer, so I already had that three grand and change and then some, plus I worked part time during the school year (15-20/hours week at $10/hour).

No undergraduate degree is worth $200k. Period. Go to a state school, get good grades in a desirable field, and you're good. Why someone would go to Notre Dame for anything undergrad boggles me.
