Update

I just wanted to report back and say that this was a scam. The seller claimed that he would send the laptop on Monday and that was 2 weeks ago. I never got another email or any sort of response from him. I called Amazon on the 10th and they said they would email him for me. Since he didn't respond to them by the 13th, they opened a A-Z claim on my behalf. Today, I got the email saying that they ruled in my favor and I will see my refund it a few days.

I'm glad to have my money back but I'm still a little upset about what happened. I guess the moral of the story is that if the price is too low, it probably is a scam even if it is listed on Amazon. I probably won't bother buying from any 3rd party sellers after this.

Don't let 1 ass ruin things for you. remember Amazon did help as I said they would. Also many people will have old computers to sell when Apple launches a new machine. They have to sell somewhere.

There has been a scam going around lately telling buyers to email the seller's given contact email before making any purchases...

This is 100% a scam. Do not buy from buyers making this request. Their prices are too good to be true, because it really is too good to be true, it's a scam.

I may try my luck again one day. It seems most scammers prey on people that are looking for a good deal and a lot of people looking for second hand macs fall in that category.

I've seen quite a few of these on Amazon. They usually list something for a few hundred bucks less than everyone else and then says to contact them before purchase. I'm glad I never bothered with them because it does seem like a scam.

I always felt that true Apple owners know the value of their products. I don't know why anyone would ever sell a popular item hundreds of dollars cheaper then anyone else. So ignore the low prices and look at price most list for. These are most likely the real listings.

$800
$1450
$1490
$1500
$1700

Just bought a MacBook Pro Retina (2,7/16GB/512GB) ME665LL/A for 2219$ from a 3rd party seller.

The item was brand new (sealed) and got it in 3 days.

I admit I was nervous until I got it. But in the end it was all ok.
