My phone has two cracks in the case.

One coming from the dock connector, and the other one inbetween the vibrate switch and the bezel.

I can live with them, but I would like to get a replacement if its on offer.

My only concern is that my replacement may have the same problem because there are an awful lot of people on here and the internet in general with the same problem.

So is it just something I should live with?

Thanks

They replace the case, so it'll be perfect as it can be. It's really up to you. If everything works great and you have cracks that even a certain ex-member would have a hard time seeing, I'd keep what I have.

So they take it apart and replace just the case? Heck, why not just refurb the sumbitch.

Yes. I own 3 that have no cracks. All have been dropped several times too.

I had cracks in my white GS only a week after buying it. I brought it into the apple store and they replaced it on the spot. I have had less problems wit the new one.

If you have an insurance for your iPhone which covers water damage: drop it 'accidently' in bath. No way they then only replace the cover.

I have no cracks, though I do have scratches (I dropped it a few times) [launch model].

Thanks for the responses!

It would appear that there are many iphones out there with no cracks :)

Maybe I will pop into my store tomorrow and have a word, see what happens.

I shall keep this thread updated with what happens, incase anybody is interested.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

I recently had my 3gs replaced due to battery issues but my last one I had since launch day and never had any cracks on that one.

I hope 4th gen iphone solve the problem with crack.

I had to take really good care of my iphone 3g since many post about hairline cracks .. im little type of ocd guy.

I just had mine replaced a week ago for battery issues. While I was at the genius bar, the genius pointed out a tiny crack near the headphone jack that I had never noticed before. On the repair request sheet, the battery issue wasn't even mentioned and only the crack was. He still replaced it on the spot. So I suppose they do replace iphones for crack issues.

Are there any iphone 3GS's out there with no cracks in the case?

My 3Gs has no cracks,:) but 3g has in the same place as yours.:(

Just got back from the apple store in Manchester Trafford centre with mew phone.

So easy and understanding!

Glad I gave it a go. :)

both my 3G (black) and My first 3GS (white) had cracks...if you go to the genius bar you have a good chance of getting it replaced...IF you can in some way link the cracks to some kind of "hardware failure"....I had a very light crack near my dock connector and I was able to show the genius that the crack prevented the iPhone from being charged...also any cracks near the camera or silent switch will get you a replacement...just be sure to stand your ground, and they will replace it
