I understand that lot's of thread have been made, but I'm not going through all of them for this particular issue. MR is here to help, and discuss. :)

First issue, Heat is terrible, hitting 80c just browsing forum, and fans hit 5000-6000 RPM.. Likely to be fixed?

100% battery, 2 hours remaining? - Likely to be fixed?

Yes, I'm running Lion. 15" i7 2.2, 8GB MBP 2011.

Thanks :)

Not sure about the heat, but my battery life def gotten worse. Brand new MBP core i7 2.3GHz, used to get 7 hours and now max 4 hours, this is with the laptop being forced to use the integrated card....

Just browsing the web and having doubletwist open my computer is running at 42°C been running lion since day 1, with the 2011 13 in baseline

On my system, it's the eventmonitor, which uses one core completely. Do anyone have knowledge about this program?

Ok, after a short googeling: it's launch2net, a software for umts-sticks. I'll remove it later this day, perhaps it solves this issue.

I'm having the same issues, OP. My computer seems to be running hotter and my battery life is suffering.

I just got the gfxcardstatus app, and its telling me that even when i web browse, I'm using the dedicated Radeon chip, and not the integrated chip. I'm not sure how it switched in SL, but i don't need a dedicated graphics card to load facebook...

I switched it to integrated only, so we'll see if that works.
What browser are you using? In FaceBook do you have the Skype plugin loaded?

My battery life has gotten worse also.

With my 2011 15" i7 mbp, I've yet to see it ever switch to the integrated graphics without having to specify it in gfxcardstatus. I opened one page of Chrome, and it switch to the dedicated graphics card.

AFAIK Chrome and Firefox both trigger the dGPU.

I also have heat issues

I installed Lion a week ago and it is causing a lot of heat on my MBA... I have no idea what is causing it...it doesn't look like any unusual processes are running.

I really, really hope this stuff gets sorted out; I'm planning on getting a new MBP and I really hope I get good battery life as this is going to be my main machine for college.

Weird...

Well, I was still having issues with Lion...

Now, I bought my wife a new Macbook Air yesterday, and it was running beautifully at like a quarter of the specs of my new Macbook Pro!

So, I formatted instead of upgrading, and I'm seeing massive improvements.

Much snappier, better battery life, better memory usage, and my temps are much lower!

So, do not upgrade!
Do a fresh install instead.

A clean install fixed the heat and battery life issues for me.

I hate to suggest it, but if those two things are a big deal to you, this would fix it right now.
Of course, waiting for an update would also probably do the trick.

I would love to do a clean install, but TimeMachine keeps giving me a kernel panic, so I don't have a good backup for a few days. :(

my only concern is that the login takes way too long.
dont have your problems though.
6 hours browsing on 100% battery 50% brightness.
Heat always around 48C with 1999rpm.
