You're taking this too personally, they realize there's nothing beneficial in it for them. Apple is too late, too controlling and too greedy. Go ahead and drop them since thats going to make you feel vindicated.

There are beneficial reasons for them, customers that they are missing out on by not making an app. Amazon are just as greedy. Apple are not stopping amazon releasing an apple tv app. I cancelled my Amazon Prime subscription, since they have no Apple TV app and they've buggered up airplay from their iOS app.

Use a Harmony remote instead.

Unfortunately it is quite an incomplete solution.

From the harmony website: "The behavior of other apps may vary, and some apps can only be controlled using the Sony PlayStation 4 game controller. Apps known not to work without the PS4 controller are Hulu, HBO GO, Sony Media Player, MLB.TV, NHL GameCenter, NBA Game Time, PlayStation Vue, Crackle, Epix, Vuze, Live Events Viewer, and Spotify."

That's just sad really. The Harmony works like a charm with my nephew's PS3.

Just about any strain on the system starts an annoyingly loud and obnoxious fan (yes, my ps4 is well ventilated).

Tell me about it. Mine is a launch model and it sounds like a freakin hair dryer if I play a game for more than a few minutes. I heard the later models were quieter, who knows.

From what I heard like before with Sony it's a thermal paste issue. I've seen reports that if your no longer under warranty to open it up, clean out the fan and remove the old thermal paste and apply some new. Supposedly it's supposed to run a lot quieter afterwards.

They have made no effort to keep their promise of coming out with an app.

Since when did a rumor posted on a web page become a promise?

iTunes isn't a monthly subscription service so it's not really comparable. People aren't paying monthly for an iTunes subscription and then not being able to watch their films on their desired platform.
Each time you make a purchase on iTunes that is an individual purchase/decision done with the knowledge that you will be tied to Apples ecosystem to view it.
On demand subscription services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video benefit from being on every available platform as many customers, myself included, factor this in massively when deciding which service to stay with.

The only difference between Prime and iTunes is that Prime offers some free shows. Both are content providers. iTunes doesn't have a subscription, and neither do films you buy digitally through Amazon. Prime just gets you access to content. When apple launches their own TV type subscription service they keep promising, their won't be much of a difference.
