The only "problem" could be if Apple is actually discontinuing for good the iPad Mini in favor of the iPad Air and the iPhone 6 Plus.
Believe me, I've tried setting it up a dozen times, and each time it refuses to work properly. Let me clarify by saying that most of my fingers work fine, it only seems to have a problem with my left thumb. Unfortunately, being left-handed, that's the thumb I'm using in 90% of my interactions with the phone. Every time I try to set up TouchID with that thumb, something different happens. The second is that a lot of people don't seem to set it up optimally. When you set it up, you were probably holding the iPhone in your hand, lifting your thumb up and down repeatedly. While iOS will tell you to vary your finger position a bit if it senses too much repetition, let's face it: in day-to-day situations, you're going to be grabbing your phone in all sorts of different ways, presenting all sorts of different aspects of your finger to it. What I did when I registered my finger prints was to slowly rotate my finger each time I lifted up, such that the sensor saw the sides of my fingers with certain takes and even the tip of my finger (which doesn't hit the sensor when you're "properly" holding the phone cradled against your palm, but which frequently seems to find it when you're doing a faster grab). I suspect that covering more of my finger with the initial registration explains why I didn't experience the high rejection rates that some complained of. If that doesn't sound like what you did when you registered your print, I'd suggest trying it out. It should yield an improvement.

First it would tell me I wasn't moving my thumb enough between presses. Then it would tell me I was moving my thumb too much, even if I wasn't moving it at all. Even after reading your post I tried setting it up again, and this time it seemed to "hang" during setup, forever making me lift and press without ever completing. I cancelled it and tried to start again, at which point it gave up halfway through and simply told me, "your fingerprint cannot be read. Please try a different finger."
I think it's just not playing nice with that thumb. I'm sure it works well for a lot of people but it simply doesn't for me.
No. I don't think you should. As I posted in another thread, IMO out of the three categories:
1) iPhone or iPod Touch
2) iPad or iPad Mini
3) Macbook Pro or Macbook Air
you should pick two. I cannot imagine a scenario where someone would get three, and extensively use all three. Sure, a few people might, but they are almost certainly in the extreme minority.
What you want is a portable work machine, and a more portable play machine. If you get a third device, what would its purpose be?
I intend to have, within a month or two, an iPad. Then I will have a cheap (~$100 off contract) android phone (only used for calls/sms/maps/tethering), an iPad for mobile entertainment, my MBP for portable work, and my desktop for work and entertainment at home. All bases covered, but little overlap.
EDIT: Further note, I think the iPhone+ is encroaching on category 2 territory a bit too much. I think you might be able to justify getting a full-size iPad, if you don't also have a notebook, but choosing an iPad Mini over an iPad, when you already own an iPhone+, seems insane to me.
Okay I'm torn on this one, I just purchased the 6+ and unsure if I should buy the next iteration of rMini. Any of ipad rMini owners on the same boat as me?
Can't tell if sarcasm...No way. The iPad Mini sells too well..
Can't tell if sarcasm...
Anyways: It's pretty common knowledge the air sells much more.
"The iPad Air and Retina iPad mini, which launched only on November 1st, accounted for 41% and 16% of total iPad sales, respectively." This is an Article from Early 2014 which says that iPad Air sold 2.5 for every 1 iPad mini. Still think the iPad Mini sells 'too well'?

Here is a USAToday article which re-iterates the point. http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/business/2014/04/18/apple-ipad-big-trouble/7870517/
This is just backup for my theory that there won't be a new rMini at the Keynote. By the way, I love mine, I don't think there will be another this year.
These were Q4 figures. Wasn't iPad Mini retina sort of in shortage at that time? Can't tell if sarcasm...

I am actually ditching my full size iPad Air next year for a retina iPad mini. Since i got my iPhone 6 plus it has become my new gaming toy. I only use my iPad Air nowadays for email, surfing the web, interactive app books, and hearthstone, I think the iPad Mini should fill in for my needs.
That said last year I was tempted to get a retina Mini, when i upgraded from my iPad 3 (which was turning into a heavy brick). But the iPad Mini retina was unavailable at the time, so i went with the Air (being blinded with the specs). Yet a year on and I still find the iPad Air too big for holding while lying down on my bed.
As for this years model there is no point to waste my money on some minor revisions such as that sticky touch id (which I actually never used on my iPhone 6 plus), and some minor design changes. Hopefully next years model will bring changes to the form factor, screen resolution and hardware.
It's almost given that next year will be a redesign for the iPad mini. I'm hoping something sexy.
Or maybe we can see it on Thursday.

Let's see how it turns out. I am on your reverse side.... or not.
I cannot see a rMini 2 happening... unless it is a +6-8 weeks announcement (like last years was a delayed release).
