--OK OK-- this thread went totally out of course...

Personally i believe Piracy is both good & bad...
-It can help an artist,
1)because many people download whole albums, hear more songs from the artist.. maybe like 8 from a 12 track album.... of course that person is going to buy a concert ticket if that artist come's to his town. It's not the same as if you only buy that promo song your hearing on the radio or watching @ mtv... i wont go to a concert if i like and know just a few songs from an artist..
-It can hurt an artist,
1)Many people say music is lost bla bla bla, auto tune and stufff ... it's all over, but still a lot of time is put into making an album, and many local independent artist are trying to make it... if you go and pirate their stuff... C'mon..

I used to download music from other sources.... but now I'm buying from iTunes.. you get great quality, and your supporting the artist... I'll ocassionaly get a song or two from other sources if itunes doesn't have it...

But of course It's not to have a mentality like, "I have 3000 songs im not gonna pay 3000 for it bleh"... if you see it like that its pretty stupid, cause u didn't get those 3000 songs in a day... But everybody has their way of thinking and their ethical views.. So From now on I'll get all my music from iTunes

haha I can't believe anybody pays for music these days. It's so easy to find any movie/song/book you want online and incredibly difficult to get caught doing so. Anyways the artists make enough money, I won't shed a tear if they make a million less this year. After all they are just musicians, maybe if they did something really beneficial like doctors they would deserve the money.

I'm going to admit, I still download songs illegally. But I do download from iTunes more and more and I make the effort to buy songs from lesser know artists and also songs that I think are particularly good and meaningful to me.

I know that not paying for songs is stealing and intend to stop doing it little by little. Just because we "can" do something and get away with it doesn't mean we should.

Piracy isn't necessarily stealing, it's piracy. It is isn't really stealing if you were never going to purchase it in the first place, ie they wouldn't have gotten your money anyways.

I haven't purchased a CD since like 1998 or something.

Yes.

Plain and simple

im trying to understand your logic. but i fail

should a cashier not get payed? if so how would you be able to buy your food from the supermarket?

edit: my bad double post

I probably buy the same amount. I only spend about $20 a month on iTunes and that isn't every month. Some months I don't buy anything. I tend to enjoy the large selection of podcasts. DRM free is nice though.
