If the iPhone X costs $869-$899 I will seriously consider reverting back to Android. By then I imagine the G6 will be heavily discounted. Probably in the $400-$500 range.

Sticking with my iPhone 7 Plus. This phone is practically perfect, something I couldn't say about my prior iPhones (mostly because they could really use more memory.)

no iPhone 8 this year, its an S cycle year.

They might not call it "8" but if there's not a redesigned iPhone model this year that would be the most surprisingly wrong forecasting in the history of smartphones so far.

I mean, I don't assume that anything is true until there's an official announcement, but I didn't think that anyone still believed that this is just another "s cycle" year.

The 64GB iPhone will likely start under a $1000, not over. Gruber also thinks the new iPhone will be labeled the "Pro", which Sounds asinine and is overly used as it is. It's likely going to continue with the numbering system.

Logically. I think the OLED iPhone 8 will only be offered in two storage tiers, with the highest (256 GB) being priced over $1,000.

Question. Why do you need a complete redesign bezel-less OLED display? Wouldn't that be more of a Want?
I agree, there is no chance they would use 'Pro' or start over $1,000. It's like $949, $969, or maybe $999, but I'm guessing the former.

As for the numbering, I don't think so. This iPhone has a drastic redesign accompanied by multitude of new features. It needs a new marketing term after iPhone so as to draw attention to these new features/design. The best comparison I can give people for this marketing is 'iPad Air'. It was given that name to tell customers this device is thinner, lighter, and smaller in all dimensions. The iPhone needs something like this. Pro is completely idiotic for a phone.

Nothing is true until the official announcement? People are so confused by evidence. People actually say that nothing is factual until the announcement. That is completely false. There is a myriad of evidence that supports the reality that this device has an OLED display as an example, and larger screen. Because the vast majority of people have not seen the device, does not mean it isn't exactly as described.

For some reason, others strongly believe this is what the new iPhone will be labeled with this "Pro" moniker terminology. It Likely won't be, because it's a Phone. Last year, before the iPhone 7 launched, it was consistently discussed/Predicted the new iPhone would be labeled Pro or Editon, and that never happened either. Not everything Gruber says is accurate, that's for sure.

The numbering system is something Apple has followed suit over the years and I'm still leaning it's a possibility, but perhaps with this major revamp OLED model, it could have a different title associated to separate it from the lower tier models. An example would be the 'iPhone SE', it had no numbering system and Phil Schiller stated it was labeled "Special Edition" later on in an interview. But it made sense why it didn't use a number in this specific instance and it was a stand alone model from the numbered iPhones.

I will say this, IF Apple decides to use a name for the OLED model, leave it to Apple's marketing team to fabricate a title that will likely fit perfectly for this model, because that's what they do so well.

If these prices are correct I’ll go for the Galaxy S8. A far higher resolution edge to edge OLED display with much better design than the 7S for the same price (cheaper, really, when you hunt arround)

Allow me to rephrase: nothing is confirmed until the official announcement.

If the 7s and 7s+ design are the same as the 6, 6s, and 7, then I will not upgrade. If the 8 is 1k or more then no on that as well even if the design is new. I will just keep using the 7 and the little beast SE.

Currently I am planning to upgrade from my 7 to an iPhone 8, THEN I plan to stop the yearly upgrade cycle for a while as Im getting bored with incremental upgrades each year plus there is a suggestion that the iPhone 8 will cost more.

HOWEVER if Apple really take the pi$$ with the price of the iPhone 8, or its significantly underwhelming, I will not be upgrading at all and will just keep my 7. The 7S variants aren't even on my radar this year.

I upgrade every year. But this year Im not sure. If its going to be starting at $1000 its going to be a no. Im happy with my iPhone 7. Great battery life and great camera. Maybe I'll upgrade next year.

I was planning on replacing my 6s+ with a 7s (even considered the SE) because I'd prefer a smaller phone. But if the 8 turns out to actually have the larger screen in a smaller case, that would be my choice.

My 6S is STILL doing more than well enough... NO 7, 7S or even 8 for me.

Just nothing there to make my 'phone' more useful for me.

Same here for me. My 6S Plus is doing more than well for me to justify not getting a super expensive iPhone.

Travel photography is big for me, so i'll buy whichever has the better camera. If both the 7s and iphone 8 have the same camera, i will buy the 7s. I don't care about design changes as much.

What are you guys planning to buy, iPhone 7S or iPhone Edition (aka iPhone 8/OLED iPhone)? I'm going for a 64GB iPhone Edition, hopefully costs under £1000. According to John Gruber, the pricing for the new phones are rumoured to be:
  • 64 GB 7S: $649
  • 256 GB 7S: $749 - $849
  • 64 GB 7S Plus: $769 - $869
  • 256 GB 7S Plus: $869 - $969
  • 64GB iPhone Edition: $1199 - $1249
  • 256GB iPhone Edition: $1299 - $1399
What is iphone edition?

What is iphone edition?

it's referring to the iPhone 8, the one with the OLED screen and a redesign amoung other features. But iPhone 8 may not be the name it's just what other people are calling it, Apple could end up calling it the "Pro" "edition" and so on.

I will be getting the iPhone 8/Edition or whatever they call it. Going to wait and see what's announced in September but if what the rumours are saying is true then that's what I'll be getting.

Have you not seen the rumours and leaks? It will be the 7s, 7s Plus and the iPhone 8, Pro or whatever they call it.

Have you not been around these forums for the last 5 years? Every S cycle year the rumours are, no S it’s going to be a full redesign and it’s gonna jump to the next number. Every time it turns out to be wrong and we get a normal S cycle.

Yes I have but this year there is more than even evidence to suggest that there will be an iPhone 8 or iPhone "Pro" too many people have corroborated with leaks, and yes there be an iPhone 7s and 7s Plus but Apple will also be releasing a 3rd option this year in the iPhone 8/Pro or whatever they end up calling it.

I'm leaning toward the 7S. I don't want to pull out a 1500 dollar (if that's what it costs) iPhone in the middle of a crowded bar or club.

The iPhone 7S, if that's what's coming out, is more understated which I like.

But who knows at the same time I might just say heck with it.

A big factor for me will be the front facing camera. I take a lot of priceless selfies so I need a good front facing camera.

If the iPhone X or whatever it's called has like a legendary front facing camera like 13MP or something crazy I'm all in.

If it's 8MP or something, (which is still great, my 5MP in my 6S is doing the job pretty decent) I'll probably pass.

Actually less evidence, physical parts etc than previous years, just more people wading in with zero evidence as usual.

Good or bad, Apple marches to the beat of their own drum.

What a silly poll.

I'm buying the iPhone Unicorn edition. $99, folds up to the size of an iPhone 4, unfolds into a full-sized, full featured iPad pro 12.9"

Not true, just look at reliable leakers such as @onleaks reports from the reliable Ming-Chi Kuo, Mark Gurman and John Gruber just to name a few, they all say that the following will happen:

IPhone 7s
IPhone 7s Plus
IPhone 8/Pro or whatever Apple decide to call it.

There have been a number of leaks some more credible than others. Granted nothing is 100% until Apple stands up on stage and announces it, but it is VERY likely with all these people agreeing on what will be released.
