If you want something to be sorry about, it should be that you have made this an open poll.

So your opening statement is patently false.

FAIL.

You'll get more gay, bi or trans voting in this poll, because they're different (cuz most peeps are straight), so they feel they should say that they're different. But straight people... Well, why would they bother? I mean, tons of people are straight.

What I'm saying is that the ratio of straight/gay/bi/trans in this poll will be diff than the actual ratio IRL.

It will probably end up like this. The US average is about 5%, should we experience numbers higher than this it could mean two things:

-There are much more LGBT members proportionally than in the rest of the US;
-What you said was true and straight people didn't vote (most likely).

Yeah. I'm straight and I couldn't be bothered voting. But if I were, say, bi, I most definitely would.

This isn't a US-only site though

You're right about this, but there seems to be a fair proportion of US members. Also, I couldn't find detailed statistics for other countries on Wikipedia :p

Haha, fair enough then. I'm gonna predict straight people win this one by a mile (not that it's a contest but you know what I mean) :)

You've also left out quite a few options...
http://takebackcanada.com/22orientations.html
1. Homosexuality: “Sexual desire for those of the same sex as oneself” (Webster’s). Even though the American Psychiatric Association and the DSM no longer classify homosexuality as a Sexual Deviation, a 1993 survey of psychiatrists around the world revealed that the vast majority of psychiatrists still considered homosexuality a mental illness. (Stanton L. Jones, Ph.D., Provost of Wheaton College, and Mark A. Yarhouse, Ph.D., Homosexuality: The Use of Scientific Research in the Church’s Moral Debate, pp. 97-98)

2. Pedophilia: “Sexual activity with a prepubescent child (generally age 13 years or younger)”. The individual with Pedophilia must be age 16 years or older and at least 5 years older than the child. For individuals in late adolescence with Pedophilia, no precise age difference is specified, and clinical judgment must be used; both the sexual maturity of the child and the age difference must be taken into account…Some individuals prefer males, others females, and some are aroused by both males and females.” (pp. 527-528; DSM-IV).

3. Exhibitionism: “Recurrent, intense sexually arousing fantasies, sexual urges, or behaviors involving the exposure of one’s genitals to an unsuspecting stranger.” (pp. 525-526; DSM-IV).

4. Voyeurism: “Achieving sexual excitement” by “peeping”, that is “observing unsuspecting individuals, usually strangers, who are naked, in the process of disrobing, or engaging in sexual activity” (p. 532; DSM-IV).

5. Bestiality (clinically known as Zoophilia): Zoophilia is sexual attraction to and relationships with animals. Bestiality is defined as “sexual relations between a person and an animal” (p. 532; DSM-IV; Webster’s)

If Bi and Transexual are options then why not also include Asexual?

Well, even if you include Asexual, there are lots more, and quite rare, sexualities. The poll should just be straight, gay/lez and bi. That'd keep it simple (plus most people fall into one of those three sexes).

Asexual is not rare. A lot of people give up on sexuality at some point in their life and I count them as asexuals. Also transexual is just another variation of gay. You can pretend that you are a woman by dressing the part and getting the surgery but if you were born with a penis and you are attracted to men then you are gay. Distinguishing between the two is like saying that a masseur who gives you a happy ending is not in the sex industry.

No Metrosexual?

That's just a gay guy in denial.

Asexual means you're not attracted to either sex, not that you don't have sex.

Why do you think people give up on sex? If you used to sleep with women and women no longer do it for you and you are still not interested in men then you are not attracted to either, hence the asexual label.

Yeah, well, I guess most people get to a point in their lives when they've 'gotten over' sex. That they no longer have the drive.

You may have gotten a better result from a private poll.

And FYI - a person's gender identity has little to do with their sexual preferences. That's also quite a personal topic for some and I'm not totally sure why it's part of the poll, especially being a public poll.

I was born male. I grew up male. I plan to stay male. I've liked females ever since I was slapped by Lord Puberty.

Sankersizzle is transgendered?

Lol, this poll is definitely not correct. People can (And most likely did) vote for some other category, just because.

And most people won't bother voting unless they were of the non-straight categories.
