I hope people here realized you don't choose your sexual orientation your born with it...

The research is not definitive on that. One may be born with a predilection for one affectional preference or another, but it appears that some interaction with environmental influences matter, too. How much of the variance is accounted for by genetic endowment, and how much by environmental influences is still an open question.

However, that being said, people DISCOVER their affectional preference, they do not "choose" it. I didn't decide to be straight, I discovered I was straight - just as GBLT folks discover their orientations. One discovers their sexual and affectional preferences - they don't choose them.

Puberty does not "lock in" affectional preference. It can be fluid, changing over time. If one's affectional preference changes over time (e.g., straight to gay) it does not necessarily mean one was "really" gay all the time. It is, however, true that one can suppress expression of affectional preference because of one's reaction to social approbation.

BTW - I probably turned out straight because I was warped in childhood. :rolleyes: :p
