Perhaps the gingerist movement is the blondes' way of fighting back... or passing the buck. :p

Okay, so really I think the whole thing is stupid. I've been a red-head and a blonde (blonde didn't work out so well for me), and I don't recall getting treated any differently than usual (natural brunette). I'd say that there really isn't so much discrimination against redheads where I've lived. Although, now that I think about it it seems like redheads kinda get left out--at least in those Sunsilk hair war ad campaigns I've seen recently. It's just a war between the blondes and the brunettes. Hmm.... discrimination!

Honestly, I think the dark red hair is gorgeous. One of my best friends from high school had the most amazingly beautiful head of thick dark red hair. Her kids got lucky and ended up getting the same hair color. So beautiful!

For me red haired women have certain attractive, not sure how to describe it, but it is as if they are just sexier.
But I prefer brunette women all the way.:)

I know it's wrong to generalize, but in my many (many) years of experience, "gingers" more often than not have been very short tempered .. :(

No doubt I was a contributing factor ..

No we're not!!! ;)
I do apologize .....

It's just that most I have known over the years have been a bit short on patience. Maybe it's just Irish "redheads" that are a tad fiery ...
The one and only one I actually went out with ....... I really don't want to think about that

I married a brunette, much calmer ;)

Reading the comments, I'm surprised. Ignorance seems to be bliss

I only lived in Edinburgh for 4 months, and even I knew that Gingers were made fun of in the UK. Guy I was working with was (is?) Ginger, and he would get a lot of crap about it. He was smart as a whip, worked hard, etc - just a generally all around nice guy. I don't think he was refused promotions/pay because of it, but if he had been black/asian/female and the same comments were made about him, he would have had an easy hostile work environment claim. But, talking with my co-worker and some of the folks in the office, it seemed like he was one of the lucky ones. I don't think he worried too much because all he got was a bit of ribbing, but some Gingers really do have it pretty bad.

You folks in the UK are bad, bad, bad when it come to Ginger rights. Perhaps it is time for a movement to protect them.

I didn't know red heads were called ginger until yesterday when I saw an interview with Prince Harry and he said his mother's nick name for him was ginger.

Prince Harry  is hot :)
