$300 for a 32GB phone is not a lot of money. Find me a better built solid phone made today. I've tried Symbian s60 3rd/5th ed, Android, WM, BB Osessss and OS X has the nicest UI....IMO of course

I just hope they make the data plan $20 again :(

people are morons for switching carriers (sprint of all places) for the cheap plastic pre....did i mention morons?

I still have the 2G iPhone...if there is simply nothing new about this new iPhone...then I'm sorry to say but my 2G still works. If I'm gonna shell out another 200-300 bucks for this it needs some kick to be added to it...Cmon Apple...please add something cool....:apple:

I admire your restraint, but I really think that the mere fact the iPhone has 3G is a large enough reason to upgrade. If you do any browsing at all away from Wi-Fi hotspots I can't stress enough how much better 3G is than EDGE. If you do all your browsing on Wi-Fi then that doesn't apply, of course.

Agreed, except I'm not going to upgrade unless someone else gives me the money, since they're really is no reason.

No. A new look is not a reason. Nor is any other your probably trying to counter my reply with.

My 2G iPhone still works great. The new software that is coming out will work for the most part. I see no reason to pay another $120 a year on my service plan for the extra speed etc.

Nope. I won't pop.

Of course if I wasn't unemployed for the past 8 months.....

plus its nice to go to a month to month contract as opposed to signing up for another 2 years

Assuming that the new iphone update isn't just cosmetic.

Your 'reasoning' is subjective and in relation to your finances. Sure, there's really never a reason to upgrade when you cant afford to, otherwise...like any computer on the market, people enjoy taking advantage of faster and more powerful technology which has a better way of integrating it's self into your life, as opposed to it's obsolete counterpart, which in this case, would be an outdated 2G iphone.

True, for some a mere upgrade from Edge to 3G isn't enough, but a faster and more powerful iphone....definitely is. What else have people been trying to do with computers since the beginning? More power....and more speed

So then, what is worth an upgrade? The iphone, like a computer, is going through a typical technological evolutionary process where the technology is made "better." And in today's terms, making a piece of technology "better" usually means making it faster, more powerful, and more efficient. So what else is there at the moment? What would it take to be crafty enough to meet....Krafty's expectations :D ?

Still have my 2G as well. This update will probably be enough to get me to buy.

I'm going to take a stab at this question and go for....

A) He wants his internet when on cell network to be 8-10x faster.

and a headphone jack that lets him use whatever headphone set he wants....and no offense, but that black/silver back cover of the 1st iPhone is ugly, but that's just an opinion so forget it, it's irrelevant.

I just have to ask....how do all those nifty and handy utility apps like Wikipanion, Dictionary.com, Yelp, Urbanspoon, and any other internet based app....come in handy while you're away from home.. if it takes ages to reference?

I don't want to be in the middle of a heated political debate and be unable to quickly references something I'm unsure before I ruin my credibility... Movie times, restaurant ratings and locations, maps, wiki's and dictionaries...the faster, the better, because a utility looses it's appeal if it takes an inconvenient amount of time to use.

I give a damn about a front facing camera, thats not 'kickass'.... what good is that without a more powerful processor and more ram? 'Kickass' is having insane graphics rendering, with ultra fast and seamless operation of the phone as a whole. More RAM and better processors opens the door to tons of other things; they're the foundation of the phone.

RAM and Processors are your friends..... Think, brains...better brains.

NO WAY!!! My white 3G works just fine plus 3.0 update. :p

The phone is not worth $600 to get out of contract much less $300 for the little upgrade.

I think if just depends on which iPhone you have (if you even have one already)

I have the original and the 3g version didn't add enough for me so I waited. I will be getting this version though. I look at it as the complete 3g.

I have a 3G iphone and with all the rumors and speculation, i see no reason why anyone would upgrade to the new one unless there was something truly kickass coming out like a front facing camera.

reasons why someone would upgrade to a slightly better 3G are:
-still have a 2G
-wants more storage
-better processor? eh, lotta money i bet you can save

im basically saying, apple made allot of money off people upgrading from 2G's to 3G's so if they want that again they better have thrown a video camera on the front or ill keep my 3G till next year.

I think the front facing camera, and the 3.5G(7.4 MPS) would make it worth it. The new phone will have to have both for me to consider.

That, and AT$T would have to make me some sort of accomodation since I still have 12 months to go on my 3G contract.

I totally agree Krafty....it needs a buying point such as something I can't get with the 2G...I like the new matte look but that's not worth 300 bucks. I want a new one for space, video recording and a few other things. It needs to be cool enough to re-buy. It wouldn't hurt to see a damn discount from ATT but I'm not counting on it...

I haven't heard or seen enough that'll make me upgrade yet. New camera/video, no. 32GB, nope. Faster processor, naw. Unless there's something that hasn't already been leaked, I'll stay with the white 3G.

The 3.0 OS will be enough for me.

If I wasnt unemployed since Dec....I'd be so YES right now....
