Are You Going to Upgrade to iOS 4.2?

Being a developer, I haven't really needed to jailbreak any of my devices.

I'll be updating the day 4.2 is released. I've done some testing with the betas and 4.2 is a nice step up for the iPad. Looking forward to loading the production version and using it everyday.

As soon as 4.2 is available ill be updating! I can't wait for airprint, airplay, multitasking, and most of all, folders! I hate having so many home screens, I want to organize it all nicely with folders.

Just to say I've used each of the betas, and battery life is still awesome. Beta 2 seemed to drain the iPad faster, but 3 is fine.

Activator is my hands-down favorite, too. I've been on 4.2 b3 for awhile now and love it. But I'm missing my Activator bad 🙂 I keep accidently using the swipe gestures I had set up in it and wondering why they don't work. Sigh. I'll never go back to 3.2 and I'll live without Activator for a bit longer but I'll JB 4.2 as soon as I can only to install Activator.

I like multitasting better with Backgrounder, can background any app, not just those that have been updated to work with iOS 4. Can also prevent apps from backgrounding indiscriminately. You only background the apps you want.

So you can drain the battery as quickly as possible?

Absolutely. That's the point. Apple does an excellent job with updates. Perfect? No. No one is.

That said, Apple leads in bug fixes and speed of implementation.

Well, if you need something to run in the background, you need it to run in the background, battery drain or no. I'm very aggressive about which apps I background, I have Backgrounder set to only background the apps I want. Everything else quits completely when I press the home button. I much prefer this to the way Apple's multitasking works, where I can't tell if an app is running in the background or if it's just suspended its last state, or if it's completely quit and is just in the multitask bar because it is a recently opened app.

I might hold off of iOS 4.2 because I've read that it shortens the battery life somewhat.

I can confirm atleast with my iPad that this is not the case, I have neglected my iPad for a few days only lost a very small amount of battery then did a bit of heavy use an cant say I dropped much battery life as I would have if on 3.2.2, I can however say I am seeing the battery issue on my iPhone, drops significantly more than when I was on 4.1 or 4.2 beta 2... but hey it is a beta after all

I like the slide switch to lock rotation, except that with the Apple iPad Case on, it's hard to access.

I'll update to 4.2 as soon as it comes out.

I may jailbreak once I loose interest on the iPad or don't need it as much as I do now. I can't afford an unstable iPad at this time.

Quick question, sorry if it's a little off topic:

Can you print to any network printer in 4.2? By any, I would mean a printer that is not necessarily one of the new ones supporting ePrint, but just a regular PCL5 or PCL6 or Postscript printer, like a network capable LaserJet?
